FORMER AFL COACH STILL HAS THREE CONCERNS ABOUT RICHMOND STRATEGICALLY

Former AFL coach Brenton Sanderson holds some concerns around the Richmond Football Club.

Despite dominating the West Coast Eagles by 109-points away from home in Round 7, Sanderson believes there are still issues with Richmond’s game style.

The Tigers are currently ranked last in the competition for both total clearances and frees against - on top of their position of 17th for total tackles laid – three areas that they need to answer as the season goes along.

These damming statistics have resulted in an inconsistent season to date for Damien Hardwick’s men, failing to string successive victories together resulting in a 3-4 record that sees them sitting ninth on the ladder.

“I’ve still got my concerns about Richmond, they’re not major but I still don’t think their tackle pressure is where it needs to be,” Sanderson said on SEN Whateley.

“I’m worried about their clearances, they’re ranked 18th in the competition for clearances.

“They’re giving away too many free kicks which means they’re second to the ball.

“There’s two or three things there for Richmond and as I said it was a great win last week – a real confidence booster – loved the speed, but there’s still some questions to be answered for me against Collingwood this week.”
