Also was it really necessary to give kosi a 3 year contract? Was anyone actually into him? We’re hawks going to re-sign him? I feel like they wernt but even if they were surely it would have been a 1 year deal anyway.

No, they were going to delist him most likely. Two years would have been enough.

I suspect he's on lowish money though.

We’ll need to cut more than that Andy. Everyone was up in arms about not taking anyone in the mid season draft, well that’s not going to change unless we open up some list spots.

Even colina finally being cut doesn’t help as he’s a Cat B rookie.

Bauer will open up 1 spot. Looks like we will take 3 players in the national draft (our 2 first rounders + somehow getting kellaway), so we’d need to cut another 2.

I also reckon OHB has shown enough to atleast be promoted to Cat A rookie. He may very well not be good enough but I’d still like to atleast see him play a few AFL games, I’d certainly like to see that before Ryan who is still wild to me was given a 3 year contract.

That is Ofcourse assuming we don’t lose any players to trades which I think we would have heard rumours of by now.

Yeah well as I said there's players I can see going vs one more year.

Wouldn't be a big surprise to me if Kmac and Prestia retired for example.

Not because I think they have no value, but more because it's time to move on and upgrade for the future.

What do you replace them with?

Have no 2nd rounder. Need something to give to get Kellaway presumably. It's generally a weak draft pool.

Kellaway will be easy. Assuming the club rate him enough to pick him up which let’s face it when it’s a F/S clubs rarely pass up, we’ll just trade a future 3rd or 4th to get back into the draft to match a bid.

One senior list spot will likely be taken up by Campbell who's just signed a 4 year contract

Can't stay a rookie

You have failed to explain how if you "cut deep" you end up with players better than dow sonsie blight or whoever you are getting rid of.

In a weak draft pool with not many picks

Dude all I’m saying is we are most likely going to draft in 3 players. Call it a weak draft as much as you want, unless you buy into this Harley Reid rumours we will be drafting someone with pick 2, 3 and then will come back in to take kellaway.

We have 0 free spots on our list atm so you have to delist/retire 3 players at a minimum (and Colina doesn’t even count in that) and that’s assuming we don’t plan on taking anyone on the rookie list.

Understand?

Can't stay a rookie

neither can Trezise

Wonder if we will delist a couple of contracted blokes with a guarantee we redraft them as rookies?

I don’t think it matters anymore. There is a cap on the Senior and Cat A Rookies combined total, so delisting and rookieing doesn’t open up any spots as far as I know.

Yeah I just looked it up

Total list is made up of 44 players

But my understanding is the most you can have on the senior list is 38 and the minimum is 36

How many rookies (cat a) you have depends on how many senior spots are taken
