Taking an injury prone player at pick 1 is now looking very dicey…  😬

Add an incompetent fitness staff and it's a perfect storm.  :banghead

Yeah Jagga wasn’t injury prone but did his knee, total crap shoot.

I would imagine our draftees this year are feeling a bit down.

Hope it all turns around

The Jagga situation is one thing, but Lalor had hamstring issues in his draft year and has now had multiple this year… that is concerning.

I agree Willy. I thought it was coming together a bit better this year but here we are with a very similar situation to last year but with our younger players
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

yep 100%. To throw smith in that convo is odd. It is not like he had an acl pre draft unlike others who have just had a second :shh

We really need to be looking beyond what Serpell. He is out of his depth IMO.

tell me Ben how is that speed working for you now champ?

These guys are still kids and their bodies are still growing and adapting to a higher physical workload than they’ve ever experienced. I’d prefer they get their injuries out of the way early so that they get their bodies right now with a view to playing 12-14 years injury free.

Is there any evidence that you can actually get your injuries out of the way early, like having kids in your late teens as well?

I want them all to do a Dylan Grimes but not aware there's any correlation.

It’s factual that growing bodies are more prone to injury than a mature athlete

Very much like a young horse going shin sore as they develop

Sure.

Injury prone when younger.

But no evidence whatsoever that you can get injuries out of the way by having them earlier.

Started fathering kids in my late teens & was still fathering them in my early 40's, so not sure about that. :shh

Are people really implying we should not have taken Lalor based on a hamstring injury in his draft year.
It was pretty obvious of all draftees taken Lalor was most likely the one with the biggest upside.

Has there ever been a player who did not have a career because of Hamstring injuries? Lalor was not a risk because of a Hamstring injury sheesh. If there was a risk it was extremely minor in the scheme of things.

If it was an Acl recurrence i could understand all the teeth knashing but a bloody Hamstring its laughable.

Do we now need to get to the bottom of his problem 100% we do im pretty sure we will.

I originally had Taj Hotton at around pick 18 but with 4 picks inside the top 14 i was pretty pleased with where we took him ACL or no ACL.
Imo with the history of recurrence of such a serious injury he was a bit of a risk.  He was the best player left in the draft and IF HE had not had injury would most likely have gone top 5 at worst.

Ultimately Sam will be fine and if there is a problem that keeps on pinging his Hammy then far better we look into it now it now.

Makes sense, but how do we explain Gibsons long term issues, poor bugger
