Okay I agree let's wait and see, though where there is smoke... JD stand and the failure to manage money and a project is alarming.

The CEO sits on the board. Let's not beat around the bush. If we make this stupid move he should be held to account and the president for giving the members the middle finger.

3 flags in recent times and we shouldn't even discussing this topic.

What the do you mean by "failure to manage money"

"The Tasmanian State Government wants Richmond to replace North Melbourne as the new club in Hobart over the next two seasons."

Are Richmond set to fill North void in Tassie?

The Richmond Football Club is wanted by the Tasmanian State Government to make Hobart a temporary home for the next two years.

As North Melbourne gets set to end its relationship with Tassie after almost 15 years, the Tigers are wanted to fill the void ahead of the induction of the Devils in 2028.

Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary is reporting that the Tigers have been approached by the State Government to take a game or two down south.

Whether it would replace their home game at Marvel Stadium is unclear.

“The Tasmanian State Government wants Richmond to replace North Melbourne as the new club in Hobart over the next two seasons before the Devils arrive,” Cleary said on The Agenda Setters.

“Richmond are still working through this prospect and will determine it over the next couple of months.

“We know Richmond have a couple of games each year at Marvel Stadium - their fans just don’t rock up. They average 21,000 over the last five games at Marvel Stadium.

“The proposal has the Tigers moving a game or two down to Hobart to fill the void before the Devils come in.

“We know Hawthorn will play four games a season in Launceston for the foreseeable future. But when North Melbourne moves their two games back to Marvel from next year and get out of Tassie completely, there’ll be a big hole down in Hobart.

“The Tasmanian State Government want Richmond to fill that void.”

It is understood that the Tigers - who are not a cash-poor club - would profit handsomely from the proposed shift.

Cleary suggests there would be a significant difference to what they would bring in for a home game at Marvel.

“I dare say they could make double or triple down in Tassie,” Cleary added.

“Club are talking about 25 to 30,000 being the breakeven at Marvel, and Richmond barely touch that. The fans just don’t rock up, this goes back to the Damien Hardwick days.

“We know they’re working through the new development of Punt Road Oval as well.

“This is not a cash-struck club by any stretch. They’ll find a way. But an extra $2 million for your club to work through something like this will help.

“The Tassie Government want to spend up big because they want content in Tassie before the Devils arrive. They can’t have a gaping hole in Hobart for the next two years.”

The Tigers have a very strong link to Tasmania with club greats such as In Stewart, Royce Hart, Matthew Richardson, Michael Roach and Jack Riewoldt all hailing from the Apple Isle.

As a result, the two biggest attendances for games in Hobart have involved the Tigers, both against North, and the largest AFL crowd (20,971) at a game in Tassie was played between Hawthorn and Richmond in Launceston in 2006.

Former Hawks skipper Luke Hodge, who barracked for the Tigers as a kid, experienced the support of the yellow and black during his career.

“They’re not going to plays finals over the next couple of years with the young list snd the turnover they’ve had,” Hodge said.

“Why wouldn’t you take them down and make some money before Tassie get a team down there?

“Richmond have a lot of support everywhere they go, but especially down in Tassie. I’ve seen that first-hand.”

The Tassie Tigers: $1m plan to become Hobart’s team — and avoid losing cash at hated venue

Max Laughton

Richmond has confirmed an approach from the Tasmanian government about playing home games in Hobart over the next few seasons.

“Richmond can confirm the club has been approached by the Tasmanian Government,” a spokesman for Richmond told The Mercury.

“It is a proposal that the club is yet to fully consider, and it would need to be of significant benefit to the club if we were to pursue it.”

Currently they play one home game a year at Marvel Stadium and it’s unclear whether they’d be willing to sell two games a season.

The Tigers likely lose money in their Marvel home game. It’s believed teams need 30,000 attendees at those games to make money and the Tigers’ home games at Marvel this decade have averaged 21,161 attendees.

In contrast a Tassie deal would likely earn them $1 million per game and, for the state, would fill the gap until the Devils are scheduled to begin play in 2028.

Former Richmond coach Damien Hardwick famously disliked playing at Marvel Stadium and even his dynasty sides had a relatively poor record there.

If it’s a million per game for 2 games over the next 2 years then I have no problem with it - providing that knocks over $4m of the $25m to rebuild Punt Rd. An absolute no brainer.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

All for this.

Would rather 2 trips to Tassie vs anything at Marvel.

Money no brainer. We aren't contending. Gives a good reason for weekend away. Only 2 years.

Would want clarity that we played less games at Marvel.
Go Tigers!

Absolutely sell the Marvel games IMO.

I'm happy to watch on telly or take the boat over for a night or two.

Would rather $1.5-2m per game though.

Help pay for some of the PRO.

terrible management is the issue. No problem with away games in Tassy.

it would be nice if they come out and say we complete stuffed this up, hence why we are now looking at options as our supporter base are not buying the brick by brick crap.

Yeah don’t see the big deal either. While we are at the start of the rebuild, the wins and losses aren’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Would bank the extra $2mil per year for a couple years and hopefully by the end of that we’re making our way up the ladder.

Stuffed what up?

What are you talking about?  You made a sweeping statement about a "failure to manage money"

I asked what you meant, you failed to answer.

Now it's they "Stuffed up" due to "terrible management"

Seriously what you talking about?
