YZE vs McQualter
« on: July 21, 2025, 07:55:21 PM »
The RFC v WCE game got me thinking ….

May have been tricky at the time with Mini being the sentimental favourite,

Yze is not that polished a speaker but everything I have heard we are on the right track.

The player cleanout was also a great move IMO

I am a big YZE fan and think RFC made the right call

Not exactly a choice between two outstanding coaches. I'm glad McQaulter is as far away from the RFC as possible but doesn't mean Yze is the man either

Didn’t want McQualter because he was an assistant under the old guard and we sorely needed a fresh set of eyes and ideas.

Who is the better coach? Who knows? It’s way too early to tell.

I buy into the seat warning sentiment more for Mini vs Yze

Yze was the one to move us forward though. Fresh eyes, just takes a bit of time.

For where we are right now, Yze is the right coach for us IMHO

If we got McQualter, would we have had the player exodus?
And you may not think I care for you

I’d have both over Brad Scott who’s hiding behind his injury count

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Can’t see them both lasting long enough

Reckon the WC natives are finally getting restless

Hard to polish a turd , but that’s the hand mini has been dealt

And now he’s having a crack at the old list managers

Out of those considered/interviewed I think we made the right choice. I can’t really remember who else threw their hat in the ring other than reports that had us talking to Buckley.

So between Yze, Mini and Buckley we made the right choice imo.

I do feel for Mini - he’s landed in a dumpster fire that was not of his own making .
Years of incompetence where the whole organisation was asleep at the wheel.

Their 2025 mirrors our 2024 - I hope Mini gets the years he needs to rebuild that club .

I guess the main question is, was it the wrong move to downgrade from P3 to P12 to land Baker + Owies? Yeah maybe. But you can see WCE also needs mature leadership as well.

They're very primed for a solid 2025 draft with picks 1, 14, 19, 32, 50, and may get 2 also if Allen leaves on big money. So I think they'll be fine if they nail this draft and retain their players.
