Collingwood has now spent well over $1 million the buying best players available in Melbourne and Australia, but the purse still has not been slammed shut.

Nothing has changed. The Pies still think splurging money any old how will buy them a flag. Sending duds to Arizona doesn't stop them from being duds  :yep.

David Cloke on SEN

David Cloke had a lengthy interview on SEN prior to 2pm. The first time in a while he didn't sound like Damir-ish.

Talked about his time at Richmond and how he came up for the 1980 GF when he had an injured ankle IIRC. He asked the club doctor to give him "something" and the doc said no. So he just went to another doc he knew that would. When he got into the changerooms the club doc was about to give him a painkiller injection and asked Cloke where he wanted it. Cloke said "just where the other 3 pin-pricks are, doc".

Also in passing mentioned Monteath and an incident during training but he wouldn't say anymore. Gave the impression a few players at that time didn't think it was fair Bruce was on the bench in the GF side.

He also admitted he walked when his 10-15% payrise request at the end of 82 was rejected. Another Tiger at that time that wasn't happy interstate players were getting paid more.

Very interesting walk down memory lane. Thanks.

We never recovered from the loss of Raines, Wood & Cloke. :(
