Think there has been a subtle change in game plan to keep him closer to goals and to be the focal point.

I was on the boundary at the Port game and Jacks attitude was pretty poor when the ball wasn't being sent towards to him even though he was in a lesser position in a lot of cases.

Now he certainly seems back up there and good on him. Just wish we would lead more to the centre than to the boundary.

Would that be an instruction to lead to the wing instead of the centre??

it is because all avenues in front of goal are blocked by defensive zones and if a turnover happens that is where we get slaughtered..
the game plan is working

Doc Larkins on Ch 7 coverage tonight said Jack has hurt his lateral ligament in his ankle and it will be swollen for a few days. Larkins reckons Jack will come up for next week but with the bye the week after do we risk him against GWS?

Riewoldt in doubt

JACK Riewoldt ... faces an uncertain week ...

After kicking two goals, Tigers star Riewoldt hobbled off the field, also in the first term, and disappeared into the rooms before returning to the field 10 minutes into the second quarter. He played out the rest of the game.

Although Riewoldt managed to play out the game, he was unable to regain the form he showed earlier in the match, and at times moved gingerly.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said the key forward had ''tweaked'' his ankle, and the club would see how the injury ''pans out during the week''.

Richmond star Jack Riewoldt in doubt for GWS clash

    Rebecca Williams
    From: Herald Sun
    June 11, 2012

RICHMOND star forward Jack Riewoldt is in doubt for Saturday's clash against Greater Western Sydney at Skoda Stadium after scans revealed slight ligament damage to his ankle.

Riewoldt hurt his ankle in the first quarter of Saturday's loss to Fremantle at the MCG, but returned in the second quarter to play out the game.

The champion had scans on the injury on Sunday, with the Tigers saying he would be monitored this week.

"Jack had a scan ... which showed a very minor ligament strain," Tigers' elite performance manager Matthew Hornsby said.

"He'll be on light duties for the next few days, and we will monitor his progress throughout the week."

Richmond waits on Jack Riewoldt

RICHMOND again missed its chance to go ahead of the ledger for the first time under Damien Hardwick when it lost to Fremantle on Saturday.

The Tigers entered the game as favourites on the back of four wins -- against Port Adelaide, Sydney, Hawthorn and St Kilda -- from their previous five games. But they leave the halfway mark of the season with five wins and six losses, with games against the bottom three, Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast, in their next four matches.

Losing to the Dockers was an opportunity gone begging to better a 50 per cent strike rate in any season for the first time in Hardwick's 2 1/2 years at the helm.

It followed the Tigers' shock loss to lowly Port Adelaide in Darwin in round 10 last year when it entered that game in ninth place with four wins and a draw from their first nine rounds.

Against the Giants at Skoda Stadium on Saturday, the Tigers could be missing spearhead Jack Riewoldt for the first time in more than three years.

In the first quarter of his 68th consecutive game, Riewoldt tore ligaments in his ankle but after treatment returned to take on Fremantle, albeit severely restricted. Scans today will determine if he received any structural damage, but Richmond is bracing itself to be without him until after the following weekend's bye.

Give Jack a rest, ankles can take a while to repair, don't want him iffy for the Adelaide game after the bye.

If we can't beat GWS without Jack then there is no point getting excited about finals anyway.
Go Tigers!

if hes torn ligaments then his impact for the rest of the year will be limited. Hope its just a nasty sprain and should be right in 2-3 weeks

Richmond will monitor forward Jack Riewoldt this week, as he recovers from an ankle injury.

“Jack had a scan on his right ankle, which showed a very minor ligament strain,” said Richmond’s Elite Performance Manager, Matt Hornsby.

“He will be on light duties for the next few days, and we will monitor his progress throughout the week.”

Riewoldt likely to miss Giants

The Age

WHETHER he is rested or not quite fit enough after rolling his ankle at the weekend, Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt is unlikely to play against Greater Western Sydney on Saturday.

Riewoldt injured the ankle when he stood on the foot of a Fremantle defender early in the loss to the Dockers on Saturday. He had the ankle strapped and returned to the field but was severely restricted for the rest of the match.

Richmond football director Craig Cameron said Riewoldt was touch-and-go to play this week.

''He is 50-50. We will monitor him during the week and see how he comes up,'' Cameron said.

It is unlikely the Tigers would push Riewoldt to be fit for the lowly Giants when there is a chance of him aggravating the injury.

The Tigers have a bye the following week so the full-forward could have three weeks' rest before taking on Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in round 14.

Riewoldt, with 32 goals, is second behind Hawthorn's Lance Franklin (38) in the race for the Coleman Medal.
