Wallace on SEN
« on: August 18, 2008, 02:45:05 PM »
Wallace was on SEN with Schwarz and Leach just after 2pm

* The boys knew themselves last week wasn't acceptable and wanted to make up for it. We had guys running forward chasing kicks and allowing Adelaide defenders to be free to clog us up. No point getting the ball 30 times if we only kick one goal in a half of football.

* Schwarz said Thursfield, Moore and McGuane and coming along well as defenders especially Thursty and Moore who have got the big jobs every time he's watched us. Terry replied that he would have McGuane equal with the other two if not better as he gets the taller forward/resting ruckmen. Plough also said all three of them haven't played 50 games yet either. Moore has 44, Thursty 36 and McGuane 30. So when they get up to 100 games they'll have the strength and body power to form a formidable defensive unit for Richmond for years to come. They are already handy for us.

* We're not talking finals as it is out of our hands. Adelaide was our chance as we were playing a side fighting for the same spot. St Kilda or Collingwood need to lose both their games for us to have a chance so as you can see it's out of our hands.

* It's important for our own self-being, supporters, sponsors, etc fro us to finish the year off strongly. Yeah the sound of finishing ninth drives supporters made but it's more about the side's improvement.

* No Browny, Foley yesterday = more about everyone playing their part. Very much like the Swans have done over the years. More about everyone playing their role in the team.

* Richo - Terry said he marvels at the big fella's ability to work from one end to the other. Players get a lot of marks floating behind the ball but he gets his everywhere. It really frees him up playing on the wing and deservingly the supporters were chanting 'Richo' towards the end of the game which was fantastic.

* Tambling - he's received some positive press lately which has really helped him. Not just on-field but also off-field with what he did in the NT and helping Wright obtain the grants to redevelop Punt Rd. It's helped to boost his self-confidence. He's defensive workrate is missed by some but not by us.

* Foley - heavy knock which he couldn't get over. May or may not be back this week.

* Browny - has 2-3 things he's carrying. Terry didn't sound that confident about him either but made the point that both Foley and Browny aren't gone for the season.
