Hodge gets a week for elbowing Deledio
« on: August 18, 2008, 05:16:38 PM »
Luke Hodge, Hawthorn, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Brett Deledio, Richmond, during the second quarter of the Round 20 match between Hawthorn and Richmond, played at the MCG on Sunday August 17, 2008.

In summary, his previous poor record and his existing carry-over points from within the last 12 months means that his one-game sanction cannot be reduced, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resuling in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of one match suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 137.50 demerit points. He also has 91 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 228.50 points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 171.38 points and a one-match sanction.
