David King on 3AW

David King on 3aw around 7.45pm tonight

* Everyone is beatable except for Geelong at the moment by the looks of it.

* Players performed at a level that may surprise people - it was disciplined and controlled. They were genuinely disappointed with their own performance last week in Adelaide. Turning it around this week shows the direction of the club is good and in order.

* We've got a young midfield outside Tuck. People forget that. The improvement doesn't always show in the losses and ladder position.

* Where we end up on the ladder isn't important right now. Even if it's ninth we'll just get on with it. Where we've come from winning and improvement is what is important.

* Draft order should be based on round 15 ladder positions. That would kill tanking talk in the final rounds and let all teams concentrate on trying to win games and bottom sides avoiding the spoon. 3 wins or less for the priority pick so it's the same percentage as now. Russell said teams might start tanking to avoid more than 3 wins by round 15. King said clubs would have to be brave to be tanking in rounds 12,13,14. Buckley said there's no way you can avoid any tanking talk and he liked King's suggestion.

I've always liked this suggested method, more so than the lottery option anyway.
Evens up the draw, everyone has played each other once (although not the way the draw was done this year)
No team is going to tank when they can still mathematically make the finals, after Round 15, with 3 wins, even if you win every game for the rest of the year you still can't make it with only 10 wins for the year maximum you could get.
Would make the matches against the bottom sides later in the year far more interesting, almost like the battle for relegation in the Premier League and other soccer leagues around the world.
The genuinely poo teams, will still finish low and still get early picks, unlike the lottery option which could result in the bottom team getting a mid-round pick.

9th = 1st pick
priority picks if any
16th
15th
14th
et al

Make the number one pick something you aspire to, not something you bring the game into disrepute for.
