KANGAROO Aaron Edwards will miss the first four games of 2009 after being caught speeding this morning with alcohol in his system. Edwards was pulled over by police this morning while driving to training after being clocked travelling 38km per hour over the speed limit.
He was given a preliminary breath test, which indicated that he had alcohol in his system. He chose not to undertake a secondary test.
He is expected to be charged with speeding and faces the possibility of losing his licence.
The club's leadership group decided to suspend Edwards from playing in the NAB Cup competition and first four rounds of the home and away season, meaning he will not be available for senior selection until Round 5.
He will continue to train with the squad and undertake extra work in the community during this time.
The leaders also recommended Edwards be fined $5000, which is the maximum allowable amount under the AFL players' code of conduct.
