25 was Ryan Allan.A kid from Tralagon way.Attended the rookie day at RFC but did not make it.
Will be a key forward once he gets use to the tempo.

Certainly gave them a target up forward and seemd to like crashing the packs a bit too ;D

From what I have heard and seen, the Burgers should go well this year.
With some exciting RFC rookie players like Nahas and Browne, together with Hislop and Thomson who are probably vying for the same position and merge that with the improvement from Carrick,Keogh and the consistency from Horne,Caruso and Carnell all looks good for 2009. :thumbsup

Arghh Glenn Carrick - thought he was on the angry pills a couple of times yesterday (either that or trying to copy Kingy), I will confess I like the way he plays  ;D

Ta WP. Disappointing to hear. Maybe they should try him forward as that's where he played his best footy at U18 level.

Ta WP.
Also is it true Nahas kicked 4 and got a shedload of it?

4 goals seems about right

Certainly got a lot of the ball although he was a lot quieter in the final qtr but was very good. He has always been a standout at VFL level as he is being chased more than he is chasing
Ta.
Chance for round 1 you think?

Nope....

I don't think he is the most likely to be promoted at this stage

very interesting observation willie P

Do you think that the young ruckman will get the nod ahead of little nahas?

Would be a bold move me thinks

I don't think we can afford to play Browne against Carlton as Carlton's ruckman, while bloody ordinary, are a different kettle of fish to those at Brisbane and St Kilda.

Browne moves like a dinosaur so against his opponents in the last few weeks like Mitch Clark, Michael Gardiner (The ultimate dinosaur  ;D), Steven King and Matthew Leuenburger he's a decent match as they're either not all that athletic, but I think active types like Cameron Cloke ( :chuck) and Shaun Hampson would give them the chance to exploit us as Gus is better around the ground, imho.  That said if Carlton played Sam Jacobs, Browne would be a better match than Gus.

Could be under-estimating his ability to cover ground but just some thoughts.

That's very much at odds with what I saw on Friday night TA.  Browne covered heaps more ground than Graham and was prepared to make a contest to help out the defenders.  Graham was totally unsighted around the ground and got slaughtered in the centre - he was the ruckman when Brisbane dominated the first 10-15 minutes of the last quarter.  It was the only time their midfield were on top and the ball was getting shoved down their throat.  At 18? years old Browne has a lot more upside than Graham at 22.  All IMHO.

Cheers Smokey, I've only seen TAC and under 18 footage from last year of Browne so maybe he's already gained athleticism and fitness more than it looked on the footage in just one pre-season.  Very good if so.  :thumbsup

I don't know

But I looked at this way 2 blokes played the same sort of role for Coburg on Saturday - Nahas & Hislop. One is on the list and one is a rookie. I would think Hislop would ahead of Nahas at this stage based on Tommy's game on Saturday...

RichardMel on Y&B has an update on Vickery's injury.

Quote
Aparently it's not his nose that was broken, but his lip is split right up to near his nose. He's seeing a plastic surgeon today to get it fixed up - and it's so swollen and bruised he can't eat so is doing the whole "eating through a straw" deal. Not fun. Further the injury occured when he made contact with someone's sholder (but the exact details were not known by my source).
