RICKY Nixon is facing fresh woes, with the AFL player agent in a dispute with a former client over $5000.
Richmond star Kayne Pettifer has asked the AFL Players Association to arbitrate a dispute over the money, which he claims Nixon is withholding.
"I can confirm the matter has come across our desk as part of a resolution procedure and that it has been activated,'' AFLPA executive Matthew Finnis said.
Pettifer alleges Nixon owes him the money for use of the star's image in commercial endorsements.
The 27-year-old Tiger quit Nixon's Flying Start stable late last year and has signed with Perth-based manager Carlos De Costa.
But sources said Nixon claimed he wasn't notified Pettifer had sacked his company, arguing the $5000 is owed to him in agent's fees.
The men were asked to meet last Tuesday with mediators appointed by the association, but sources said Nixon refused to attend.
If the matter is not resolved by mediation, it could end up in court.
"I guess the reason we established this procedure was to keep these matters from becoming overly legalistic and ending up in the courts,'' Mr Finnis said. "Both the players and the managers have an interest in that.
"We hope the player and the agent can resolve the dispute.''
A spokeswoman for Nixon yesterday said the Richmond star owed Flying Start management fees after the player agent had convinced the Tigers to re-sign Pettifer to a one-year deal.
Nixon is facing charges after crashing his car into the back of a tram on Wednesday night.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink-driving offences and possibly leaving the scene of an accident.
