What was said at 3QT between Martin and Hardwick?

Dimma charged over to him straight from the box to try gee him up

Dusty looked non interested and keep walkin away...

Really I must have been watching a different game.

He walked over to him and they walked away from the huddle and spoke one on one.

Not sure how you've come up with your version.

Oh wait yes I do  :whistle

AS THEY WERE SPEAKING dusty looked disinterested an try to end the speech early by walking away

Watch it again

Smacked of "I know what your good to say whateve"

From last night's show:

Barrett said the internal review is already underway and has been going for a week, no matter what Richmond says.

Barrett also said Richmond is trying to retrofit Hardwick's tenure from when he arrived. The initial plan when Dimma arrived was to win 3 flags by 2020 and now we've got Dan Richardson talking about 8-year rebuilds and saying they always knew these mature recruits wouldn't win them a flag. Caro said the RFC basically met their first 5-year plan: it was 3 finals in 5 years and they did it in 6; they cleared their debt; and they achieved 70k members. The 3 flags by 2020 was more aspirational.

Barrett questioned the heirarchy for re-appointing Dimma, and he and Lloyd felt the Club were now making the assistant coaches and recruiters scapegoats. Barrett added that Hardwick backed the top-up recruiting and Hutchy said if Dimma goes that will be the thing that will define his time as coach. Lloyd added that Hardwick wanted harder bodies (i.e. Townsend) and when the coach says he wants this type of player then the recruiter can't say no.

Caro said she hasn't heard of any names getting the sack but she expects those who have been at the club for a number of years in Lade and both Mark Williams will be under the pump. The footy department personnel are out of contract at the end of this year.

She said Benny Gale and Dan Richardson will make the decision on who goes.

Lloyd said Richmond have to rebuild. His view of our list and who he would trade/delist:

Untouchable A-graders: Jack, Rance, Cotch, Dusty.

A-graders open to trade: Deledio (now 29) and Shane Edwards. Lloyd added that you need to give up something good to get an early pick or a good player in return.

Tradeable: B.Ells, Vlastuin, Conca, Vickery, Lennon.

Cloggers: Chaplin, Hunt, Morris, Hampson, Townsend, A.Moore.

Heard Lloyd and saw his "lists" of who should stay who should go. Said we should de-list Ben Elton and Liam McBean. He said Richmond wont play them (can Ben Elton kick?) so therefore they should go

Also explained that the reason you don't trade Cotchin is because he is the captain and "you don't trade your captain". Also said you'd trade Lids oe Edwards because they'd get you a pick inside the top 20.

I guess it depends what you get. I don't think you'd risk trading Cotchin for picks, there would have to be a player/s involved.

No surprise after a bad loss, we end up the leading talking point. Richmond rates.

Anyway, they went to town on us tonight.

* Hutchy and Barrett brought up the mixed messages coming out of the club this season. They replayed the conflicting public comments over the past 3 months from Gale, Dimma, Dan Richardson and Peggy.

* Barrett brought up Dimma saying only two weeks ago that this was the best list he's had in his time at Richmond which is extraordinary given they are currently 4-7 after 7 years under Hardwick. Hutchy said Dimma has overrated his players and that him talking finals is a sign of a coach who lacks job security as opposed to Ross Lyon who openly is rebuilding Freo's list.

* Caro replied that the public message is very different to how the Club sees itself internally. They know they are miles off. The likes of Carlton and Melbourne have gone past them. She believes there will be a major shake-up in terms of recruiting and development. Hutchy accused Caro of hyperbole given the Club's public comments. Caro answered back that the Club has to manage what it says after Dan Richardson's comments that upset certain players and assistant coaches. Hard to discuss rebuild and people's positions at Round 7.

* Hutchy said Richmond have to go into rebuild mode. If Dimma is still aiming for finals then he is kidding himself. Hutchy once again mentioned it as a sign of job insecurity because Dimma only has 2 years left on his contract after this year. Caro chipped in and quipped to Hutchy that is he calling for another two years for Hardwick. Hutchy replied back no but Dimma has the next 11 weeks to bite the bullet and play the list. Caro replied that 1.5 years is long enough to turn things around. She used Carlton under Bolton as an example of what can be done in short time if the correct stipulations and processes are put in place.

* Lloyd agreed that finals are out of the question and that Richmond needed to go into rebuild mode. He repeated what he said earlier on 3aw:

Looking ahead to the back end of the year, Matthew Lloyd believes it is time to really find out about the quality of Richmond's list, even it it means losing a game or two along the way.

"I would prefer to drop games, by finding out about players in different roles," Lloyd said on Sports Today.

"It might be playing Rioli in a certain role... They've just got to find out about those guys, even if it costs them wins."

Sitting on four wins with a low percentage, the Tigers haven't reached the heights they expected to this year.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has maintained the list quality throughout the difficult stages this season, but Lloyd doesn't agree.

"I think they've overrated their list for far too long."

Sorry, typo  ;D. It is 2.5 years left (until end of 2018). I've fixed it. Hutchy meant Dimma only has two years after this if he wastes now still chasing a final appearance.

Poor example.

Jeff Hogg was finished as a footballer (through injury) and Richmond knew it.
Cotchin is heading into his prime.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

We lost badly = lots about Richmond on last night's show.

* Matthew Lloyd said Richmond should offload 13 players. Players in yellow to be delisted.

Chaplin
Hunt
McBean
McKenzie
Townsend

Lennon
Griffiths
Elton
Maric
A.Moore
Morris

Conca
Vickery

* Caro spoke about the review being a major one.

   -  Hardwick will 3 assistant coaches will be moved on at the end of the season as they are out of contract.

   - Recruiting has been woeful. Expect major changes there.

   - Club recognises there's a cultural problem. The team continually fails in pressure games.

* Lloyd said the problems at Richmond are a mixture of both list management and coaching.

* Barrett said he would've moved Hardwick on and not re-signed him earlier in the year.

* Hutchy said he supported the re-signing at the time as you can always pay the coach out and cut your loses. It's no big deal. Caro added that Dimma is safe this year but if Richmond are in the same position next year then it's unlikely he will see out the final year of his contract.

* Hutchy added that he sees coaching (tactics & development) as a bigger problem than the list. They are too easy to play against. Opposition clubs believe Richmond spreads too wide and are easy to cut through and score against. They also see Richmond's gameplan as outdated. The gamestyle is unsustainable. Not all coaches are great tacticians, so they need to bring in a top tactician to help Dimma rebuild the gameplan. He added Richmond has the best top 6 of the teams outside the Eight so they don't need a total rebuild. Barrett chipped in that we fall away quickly after our best 6.

* Hutchy mentioned that Hardwick believed he had the best list in his time as coach, however they don't have the players. He asked Caro if Dimma should carry the can for that? Caro defended that statement as selling "hope" earlier in the year to instill belief in his players and that all coaches do it. She added that the more real (honest) Dimma was on display after the game. The one positive after a result like Friday night is that the pretence is over.

* Caro agreed development has been poor. Hutchy said he could think of 15 Bulldogs who have come on under Beveridge whereas you would struggle to come  up with one at Punt Rd under Hardwick's reign. Perhaps Grimes and he's no star.

* Lloyd said Richmond are nowhere near a premiership. Their record said Richmond has 8 weeks to play their list. McBean should be given 4 weeks to show what he can deliver at AFL level; not just one week and dropped.

Most people that watch even just a few of our games can see our game plan is putrid. But Dimma is so stubborn he has refused to change much in the last 3 or 4 years.
The list is full of soft, slow, scared players that have either been drafted or traded for. So FJ can take his share of the blame for that but so can Dimma and the other list managers. But anyone that thinks DH doesn't get a very good say in who we trade for is delusional.
How can a player be on our list for 5 years and only have played 2 senior games. That would not happen at any other club. That's a long time to play 2's footy.
People talk about coaching and development as two different areas but don't they both come under coaching. Isn't it the coaching staffs job to develop players??
It all boils down to Dimma IMO not being a very good coach. Our players have gone backwards due to coaching, his development and his game plan.
It is still perplexing that the RFC gave him a 2 year extension with still a year to run on his current contract. If they simply had of waited until now they may have come up with a very different opinion on where our club is. All because we were too weak as a club to stand up to the media!
What is even more funny if what we are hearing is true is that the assistant coaches will probably be shown the door and the head coach will stay. That is too funny. Only at Richmond.

On another note they say the recruiting department could have "major changes" but what are they waiting for?? Don't waste another draft with the same team that has let us down for the last 6,7,8 years. Especially if we intend to make wholesale changes to our list. Move now!!
It the most important thing to do in the short term.

Anyway the next 8 weeks are very important and I hope that we are already invested in guys like Hurley. The only way out of this situation is if we throw money at some decent players and hope we draft well after trading our guys out. We need to finally grow some balls as a business and make decision for the now, that may not be too popular, and not try to think too far ahead.

I honestly believe if we can get Hurley (free in pick terms)  a decent ruckman, a genuine mid (not really keen on Prestia) and say a Barlow from Freeo, and have a fit Yarran, McIntosh and maybe Lennon next year we can turn it around pretty quickly but DH would needs to change his style of coaching or get the arse. I'd definitely be more happy with the latter.
