350 is a reasonable price

I agree. 350k is spot on for Conca IMHO. If the club cant pay him that then they have stuffed up the payscale at Richmond.

surely we aren't at the edge of the cap? surely its too keep room for free agents?

I'm thinking that too. Two years ago we were paying like 92% now we are over. It's all about free agency. Maybe making a play for Dale Thomas? :shh

youre right it is  to bring in more free agents but Conca is still worth 350k so somewhere some players are being overpaid and the payscale is in question.

If we are already over paying and carlton can offer 800k a year to daisy then we may as well give up

Richmond reportedly offering Reece Conca reduced contract to stay at Punt Road

REECE Conca wants to stay at Richmond, but his loyalty will cost him.

Club and player remain apart in talks, but industry sources said Conca would have to accept significantly less to stay at Punt Rd than he could get on the open market.

Richmond continues to hold firm play hardball with the West Australian’s manager Colin Young, refusing to budge on an offer it made about six months ago.

It is believed several rival clubs are staggered by the amount Conca is being asked to accept and have made inquiries.

His manager, Colin Young, was reluctant to comment on Wednesday, but said reports Conca was chasing a $350,000-a-year deal at Punt Rd werewell wide of the mark.

Former Richmond assistant David King, now a leading football analyst, said the Tigers could not afford to lose Conca.

“As a true midfielder, only Trent Cotchin will be ahead of him at Richmond in 20 games’ time,” King said. “I think he’s a Jimmy Bartel-style player; he just gets the job done. They don’t look flamboyant, but what they do is brilliant.”

Conca was to meet coach Damien Hardwick this week before a second check-up on the hamstring he tore against Carlton on Sunday.

It is understood he has requested a small increase, and negotiations are expected to come to a head in the next two weeks.

Conca, 21, has played 52 games since being taken with pick No.6 in the 2010 national draft and was highly promising this year despite suffering a stress reaction in his right foot.

The delay in re-signing him comes as teammate Dustin Martin edges closer to ending his drawn-out contract saga.

I'm not sure we can compare him to Jimmy Bartel but his more than half the player that Lids is, more than 60% that Jack and Dusty are so paying him mid 300s doesn't exactly seem over the top.

The biggest knock on him is his body - hasn't had a full pre season due to injury and breaking down again during the season is a worry.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

TBH not sure how the HUN has come up with the title of the story.  ;D

"reportedly offering Reece Conca reduced contract to stay"  :huh

I just take the story as Club's made an offer, he's manager's made a counter offer and there is a difference. Is the Club's offer less than what his current deal is worth, doubt it, the same? Possibly but less I doubt it
