Other fixture facts

•    Play twice:  Carlton, North Melbourne, Brisbane, Essendon, Sydney, Melbourne.
•    Play once:  St Kilda, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Fremantle, Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Geelong, West Coast, Adelaide.
•    Play only two of the 2010 finalists twice in 2011 - Sydney and Carlton.
•    Played all four of the ’10 top four teams just once in ’11 - Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong and Western Bulldogs.
•    Interstate trips to:  Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Perth and Sydney.
•    Victorian trip to Geelong’s Skilled Stadium.
•    Four MCG games in-a-row to start the season.
•    Seven of the first nine games at the MCG.
•    Don’t travel interstate until Round 10.
•    Have a bye after the Round 10 fixture in Darwin.
•    Play Essendon in Round 9 and then again in Round 16.
•    Play Melbourne in Round 14 and then in Round 22.

The draw on the AFL site and the HUN says we play the Cats at Etihad?

Brisbane and Essendon twice  ;D That is four wins at least!  ;D

We should never play at Skilled Stadium.

It is like another interstate trip!

Tiger thumbs up for 2011 fixture
By Tony Greenberg
Fri 29 Oct, 2010

Richmond rates its 2011 fixture challenging, but exciting.

The Tigers face four of this year’s finalists - Carlton, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Collingwood - in the opening four rounds of the season, all at the MCG.

But they don’t play away from the ‘G’ or Etihad Stadium until Round 10, don’t have to travel to Geelong, and have considerably less Sunday games than in 2010, which should please the Tiger faithful.

“It is a challenging draw from a football perspective, but while our young team is evolving, they will benefit from playing in some big games, particularly early in the season,” said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.

“We think it is a really good fixture for our members, supporters and corporate partners, given the fact that we play a large number of games at the MCG, and have more Friday night and Saturday games, which our fans will appreciate.

“The number of interstate games we have later in the season will provide us with a great opportunity to build our brand nationally, and expose our young group to travel, which is a reality of modern-day football.

“We are really excited about what lies ahead for the Club.  Although there is a lot of hard work to be done, this fixture will enable us to build on the foundations we have laid.”

Nice easy start to the season  :P. We probably won't win a game until round 6  :-\. It looks like the AFL reckon we'll be competitive in the first half of the season then disappear into obscurity in the last 6 rounds. American-like draw as well where we have home games bunched up in segments and then month long breaks of no home games.

Pros:
A better fixture financially for the club especially in the first 10 rounds.
Most home games on a Thurs/Friday night or Saturday
No travel in first 9 rounds
Don't play down at Kardinia Park
Playing St Kilda away at the 'G. Making up for last year playing home at Etihad.

Cons:
Back-to-back interstate trips  ::)
Home game at Etihad vs North even though the MCG will be free on Sunday when the game will most likely be played.

All up the Club won't complain about it.

I'm happy witht he draw particularly the fact that the teams we place twice appear to be the weaker 2010 teams. Even the finalists that we do play twice are two of the weaker imho. we seem to start of with a bang playing all our Thursday/Friday night games early before fading off into media obsurity.

never forgert the feeling of beating them in that Judd hyped up season opener game.

I never have any confidence beating the Blues but for once can we please whipe the smile of all those pricks faces.

quite pleased with the draw to be honest.

No skilled and more interstate trips means more weekends away.

Darwin and Cairns are great places to visit.

Once again a favourable draw to the magpies.  :banghead :banghead :banghead Man i couldnt bear another flag to them.

My first reaction is OUCH .........we are going to be 0 -5 (again). :help

Anyhow the fact that Freo was 6-1 after 7 rounds last year should give us all hope.

18 games in Melbourne, 14 at the MCG and they don't travel until the second half of the year. Eddie has Andy D around his little finger.

Having now seen the TV schedule I notice both of our "home" games interstate in Darwin and Cairns won't be on FTA TV. Why would you sell home games interstate without the condition they be FTA so most supporters/members can watch it. Melbourne's game in Darwin against Port is on FTA but both ours aren't  ::).

A very good point point MT and one i think the supporters should all raise with the club. I don't know how much influence the club has in broadcast decisions but to loose home games interstate and not have them on FTA is just wrong.

Agree al.

Speaking of games FTA TV next year, Carlton will have 17  :P. Until we start winning and making finals we'll continue to miss out.
