Good to hear Dimma.

Fair enough, Dimma. What do you plan to do about it? I bet that none of the journo's asked that question.
-
I want to hide in a cave for a week until the Eagles game.
So cut.
-
Game was there to be won, don't think there is anything magical we could have done to win the game.
Simply put the 3 smothered handballs in the last quarter stopped out opportunities going forward in the last. Give us 3 more inside 50 chances and we could have pipped them.
We could have won, but walk away confident for next week.
Start of the year if you said we would be 1-3 which includes being within 10 points of Carlton with 9 mins to go, should have beaten the Cats and were more than competitive against Collingwood, I'd have taken it. If we can pinch a win against West Coast next week in Vic, its been a good start.
Most important thing is that we are playing reasonable footy. Results will come.
-
Dimma.your to blame , you keep playing Jackson and Vickery you get the result you got.

Agree, not much to replace TV.
Thought Jackson was okay today in comparison to last few weeks, still not to standard.

Thats how you fix it

Yep.Jackson disgraceful once again..disposal so poor .Am over Vickery .wouldnt bruise a grape .

Who comes in for these two? I havent seen the match report from the Frankston game but if scores alone indicate anything then there is not much pressure happening from below.

Jackson was completely ineffective and a liability even by recent standards. There is no argument for his retention.

Note to Harwick, tired of your worthless excuses
Get Tuff or get out
-
Hey Monk .what about our boy Jack playing behind all day :help
-
Jack who, lol l have never liked Rewoldt, his attitude stinks & so does his football. his been flogged every week. Another one of Hardwicks pets that needs to be dropped.
Any footballer can play Full forward, but his not a footballer
-
Hey Monk .what about our boy Jack playing behind all day :help
He's been unable, apart from the odd wrong footing of his opponent (see the 3rd q Melb game), to get in front so far this season. Maybe the injuries from last year are still hampering him???
-
Any footballer can play Full forward, but his not a footballer
And any footballer can be a Coleman medalist right? No wait, erm......
-
Ignoring individual mistakes, we lost today's game purely and simply in the second quarter.
1st qtr: 6 pts down against a 3-4 breeze ... good workrate
2nd qtr: 15 down with a 3-4 breeze .... pathetic workrate
3rd qtr: 9 pts up against the breeze ..... good workrate
4th qtr: 2 pts up with the breeze ...... good workrate
Lose game by 10.
Even if we kept it even with the Cats in the 2nd qtr then we win. Dimma is right. We should have won today and it was us who blew it. 17 intercepted possessions was the other glaring stat.
-

Full Forward is the easiest position to play on the ground. All Coaches will tell you to play in front to win the ball & limit being blocked on the lead. This Rewoldt is a pretender who has nothing inside his head but his own status. have to tell ya his heads been spining quite a bit in the past year.
-
He continually plays from behind
-
how smart is he leading into the most dead pocket on the ground ;D
Now thats funny :lol
-
As I said earlier .Reckon Jack Riewoldt cost us the game with his poor efforts.end of story.and don't get me started on Vickery either.one good year doesn't make a career .they drop Post after one bad game..I wonder if Vickery gets a game this week..lol
-
There be no victories with Vickory Dickory Dock :lol
-
Jack's biggest problem is between his ears.
If you play this game, you have to understand one thing. you will, at some stage, get shafted by the umps.
when you see a player, particularly a forward, who can be staved of opportunity, carry on and drop their head because they expect a free and dont get it, then drop their head, you know they are stuffed
the last few weeks it has been the same for jack. harden up son and get on with it, FFS
-
He is week as pee
-
Im still seething , probably the less said right now the better until this rage abates :shh
-
sic em rex, dont hold back.

I don't actually mind noble losses. Just not a whole season of them! :banghead

Reality is after 4 rounds is that we won't play finals are are no closer it seems
-
Winners find a way to win.
Losers find a way to lose.
We are still a loser team.
-
Fair enough, Dimma. What do you plan to do about it? I bet that none of the journo's asked that question.
Your correct .Journos won't ask the hard questions or make the club or coach look foolish.otherwise they would be cut off at the knees
-

I wouldnt write off our chances just yet, the next month will tell the story
-
jack worked hard today, sure he played from behind a few times butr where was his help, at every contest he was expected to crumb his own work, where were the mosquito fleet crumming and helping him
f o jackstar, stop bullshitting and digging at jack, he effing far better than u
-
Note to Harwick, tired of your worthless excuses

NO EXCUSES then TM......
See we have the team, bar a couple that let us down, we are mentally weak.

We wont make finals once again
-
Couldnt believe it watching him today, repeatedly played from behind...completely took himself out of the game
-
Some of you guys are just plain Trolls.
Who tipped us to win aganst last years premiers at home?
Who didnt predict us to be 1-4?
Most of all who expected you idiots to be making these stupid comments this week? MEEEEEE
Lets all hope you disapear in the second half of the year. You guys make Tiger supporters look pathetic. Take it somewhere else please.
I saw a Tigers team harder at the ball than I have seen in years. I saw a team not pushed of the ball like sticks. I saw guys backing themselves. I didnt see a perfect team but I can see that OUR team is moving in the right direction so you trolls can take your crap and stick it where the sun dont shine. Harwick and his team will work on whats wrong. If you cant see that he is doing that and has changed the way OUR team plays then you are watching a different game to me.

Good post.
We did'nt look like a team that is usually bullied by these blokes.
Sick of hearing how crap Jack played, their forwards had little impact also. Yet i have not seen many kudos going to our defenders.
-
are we talking about Jack or Jackstar? :huh

Jack and Monk i am suspecting.

Did you expect us to win against Carlton, Collingwood and Geelong? One and three is about where we all thought we would be after four rounds.
We may just beat a team above us next week. :thumbsup

I think some of you may want to read the thread title and who said it, ffs, even the coach has had enough of these losses but some of you seem to continually accept it and probably will for years to come.
We could be 4-0 had we of played the way we are capable of playing.

i'm not sure he is an ordinary bloke but lets face it this year he is playing very ordinary football. Second efforts are virtually non existent and yelling at teammates is not on.
After 4 rounds this year, he along with Vickery, have gone backwards in a big way.
Without at least one of them getting back into form very soon, we have next to no chance of making finals.
-
So is this club finally going to get angry and draw a line in the sand?
Let's see...

We obviously watched the same game Fluffy
Look I am extremely disapponted we lost but struth if you had said to me when I got to that pathetic excuse for an AFL venue and queued for 30 minutes to get in that 20 mins into the final qtr we'd be within a goal of the reigning premeiers I would have "can I have some of that your on please"...
There was alot to like today, yes there was some terrible mistakes eg Conca's handball in the final qtr when 40 metres up the ground stood Brad Miller on his own just outsdie fifty with at least 3 blokes powering through the centre = game breaker right there BTW....
But there were some bloody good things as well - people shouldn't lose sight of that
In all seriousness the most pleasing thing about today was seeing how guttered the players were when the siren went. 12 months ago they wouldn't have reacted like that at all
-

No one is saying we accept it WAT. What we are saying, or to the point not saying, is that everything is doom and gloom.
We won't make finals.... did we realistically think we would?
We lost to the Cats by 10 points, previously is would have been ten goals.
Today was a game that got away, we should have won. Our skills under pressure let us down. We had a few passengers. But did we roll over? Did we fight it out? There are positives to take from this and there is never any point in going feral on here, it will never change the result and it will never change future results.

I am not saying it's all doom and gloom and yes I did think we could of won, you nailed it though and this is what's frustrating, our skills and the couple of passengers is why we are 1-3..
Just like the Coach, getting sick of the "honorable losses" when really they should be wins, nothing feral in my comments. Unless we play the way we played against the Cats in the NAB we won't improve.
Why can't we play like that weekly, what are the excuses, there are none...my opinion that's all.

comical actually.

Vickery has been terrible all year but an awful day for forwards today Jack.
Pods and Tomahawk were ordinary for Geelong also.

When some of us replicate what Dimma said in his own words we get shut down as being negative well ive got news for you
Richo12. Did i and others realistically think we could make finals you asked. ABSOLUTELY!! Why not???
we can match it with any side outside the top 5 at the minute, thats why we should be aiming for finals.
Lets be serious if Nought and Bummers are playing finals then we can play finals
We are 1/4 because of the select few who are not playing team football. Thats all.

Go figure :huh

Boys I am gutted.
Going there is like going to my dads village in Greece and watching AFL. Sub standard venue.
I thought our work rate was excellent bar the second quarter. Again one quarter of footy letting us down.
The kids went in hard and I thought we outdid them in clearances.
Unfortunantely our skills with pi$$y little kicks and dinky little handballs murdered us.
Also I find that the umps really gave the cats a few cheapies throughout the game when we were getting jack poo in return.
This was clearly a game we could have won. I was fuming driving back from gypsy village now I am just frustrated knowing that with more skill and poise we may have beaten both of last years GF teams.
Mark my words both the scums and the pussies are a shadow of the teams they were last year. Bottom 8 at best.
Next week presents a huge challenge in beating a top 4 possibly top 2 team.
I hope that if we go 1-4 after another honorable loss we don't play soft against Port.
Frustrated but I believe that breakthrough win will come and the psyche of the club will change. :thumbsup

First, i am not saying you are going feral or painting a doom and gloom picture. I am saying that i won't do it and hopefully never will. It's just that any absence of feralism or over pessimistic views does not neccesarily mean i accept it.
Secondly, i agree with you. Why can't we play like that every week? I think soon we will.
Thirdly, i hate honourable losses. You will never console me with an honourable if we ever make a gf. But honourable losses are better than absolute floggings when the team does not appear to be committed.

how could you be sick of honourable losses? we havn't had that many.
plenty of dishonourable losses, but not many honourable ones.
sometimes i wonder if people appreciate just how crap we were just three years ago.
-
i dont think you appreciate how crap the Eagles, Bombers were a few years ago either or did you forgot that.
We are not talking about 2005/2009 we are talking about this year and that was an honourable loss much like the Pies game.
We could've won both if it werent certain players not stepping up and Pies playing 5 minutes of good football.

True al, but I think he means sick of the mindset that we have been so poo for so long that we are usually happy to Get within 20 points of these top sides. I know that's how I feel, I don't want to be happy with that anymore, stuff me I want to start going to the footy expecting to win again. The last 8 years have well and truly ripped the spirit out of our supporters. I'm glad to hear the coach and batchelor echo these thoughts, players looked deadset peeed and devastated

Last year we and Dimma wanted to close the gap on the top sides (i.e teams that usually thrash us) and put away sides we're meant to. So far we're on schedule.
Still, reckon we should have won today. Some stupid decisions and skill errors cost us. I just watched the presser and Batchy's interview. I'm glad no one said this loss was honourable or acceptable. We, and most of the comp, are going to lose to these sides anyway. The true measurement will come when we face Norf, Bums and Cows. String some games back together like we in patches last year and not drop the stupid ones like the Dogs, and the season is still alive. The only excuse I'll make is if we finish 9th or 10th and we're only a game behind Norf or Cows who do make the 8 and that's that they were gifted a finals spot (provided we actually beat GCS and GWS this year :lol). But if we're really top 8 material then we'll win more of our 50/50 games and it would be so sweet to keep those two precious sides out of the 8 by winning more games against real sides than them. With Norf's win against Geelong though we'll really need a win against the Beagles and Blues later on to keep on par with them.

So is this club finally going to get angry and draw a line in the sand?
Let's see...
it must be this week TM as IMO we have to beat the Eagles. After 30 years im sick of honorable losses. Games are there to win and we couldve won this one very easy.
Port in Adelaide is going to be a very difficult game to win.
We could lose both and our season pretty much over
how could you be sick of honourable losses? we havn't had that many.
plenty of dishonourable losses, but not many honourable ones.
sometimes i wonder if people appreciate just how crap we were just three years ago.
Agree with the content of these posts. :thumbsup
I think the magnitude of the defeats set in during the Walla$$ era after he was seen as some sort of miracle worker when he first arrived and then the failure and realisation of being worse off at the end of 2009 than what we were at the end of 2004 has really left us all with a bitter tast in the mouth.
For the most part it is frustrating getting so close against the better sides but positive in the sense we are no longer getting disgraced on field. I think as a group of fans we have been loyal and have shown a tendency in our own unique way to last the distance of one more tenure, one more tenure and we all just wish this list would stuff itself and get that breakthrough win and start its upwards surge.
Alas it wasn't this week albeit against a declining but still very well credentialled opponent at a ground where we have won 3 times in 30 years. We get another opportunity next week against an opponent top of the ladder undefeated and in the top line of betting for the premiership. May not win in fact probably won't win but the on field fortune of this club is starting to turn into a positive direction, if only some would rather acknowledge this than throw stones merely because we didn't get the four premiership points today as we didn't on so many other occassions down at the sheep shed in recent years.
-
i dont think you appreciate how crap the Eagles, Bombers were a few years ago either or did you forgot that.
We are not talking about 2005/2009 we are talking about this year and that was an honourable loss much like the Pies game.
We could've won both if it werent certain players not stepping up and Pies playing 5 minutes of good football.
If you only meant the last year or so why did you say 30 years?
No side, not essendon, not the eagles, not north, has been the perrenial basket case we have been. None of those sides have had to strip the club back to the bare basics like we did two and bit years ago. No club has started so far behind the rest of the field as we were.
This club has come so far from the heartless, soulless, directionless rabble we were under wallace.
Yeah, i want to see us start to win these games too, but when you look at in perspective, we really have only just started to string together these so called honerable losses, so its another step in the right direction. the next step is to start winning theses games and Im as anxious as the next person to see it happen, but it's not like we have been getting close to top sides and just losing for any length of time
-
yes terrible that we came within ten points of rolling the reigning premiers on their home digs. We are going backwards, time to sack everyone.
-
stuff you and your sarcastic comments. We should have won yesterday you apologists :clapping
-

Correct.
we came within 10 points of beating a team that is far from the outfit that won last years premiers
That game was ours
-
Geelong were just yesterday .forget about there 2011 achievements as same as Collingwood
Geelong has had a fair amount of players out yesterday .Kelly.Scarlett Varcoe etc etc
We should of won yesterday if we are any good
-
Extremely disappointed. Game against the Eagles can't come fast enough. The players should be chewing arms and legs off next week to get the win.

it's this sort of sarcastic rhetoric that has been our downfall for years.
I hope no-one at the club has this "she'll be right" attitude.
I hope all the coaches feel as we do and are gutted, angry and fed up.
I hope the players feel this way also.
I hope to end the loser and close enough is good enough mentality.
Don't you wonder why the bummers & north can win games like this but we can't? It's because they have the winning attitude that we only dream of.
I hate losing and everyone at the club should hate it too.
Close enough is NEVER good enough!!!

Mr. T., Owl is not saying that he enjoys losing. He is not saying that close enough is good enough. Owl, like others on here, is simply saying that it is not terrible what happened yesterday. Last years result, the 100 pointer the year before and the 151 pointer before that is a terrible result.

Great post.throughly agree .its not about the margin.its about getting the 4 points
Ross Lyon never coached for margins.as long as the team is good enough to get the 4 points
Something that we struggle with
-
Geelongs bigger bodies got em over the line.
We have improved greatly from where we've come 2 years ago.
I'm gutted abut the loss but it's time to move on and concentrate on next week and I reckon we are a bigger chance against West Coast.
Had all the elements against us and still nearly won.
Geelong seething after a loss to North.First game for them home.
Unfurling the flag.Hardly any Richmond support(well we out roared 20k with our 500 in the 3rd quarter lol) due to Andy D.s strange idea of us playing there when we have more members than Carlton or Essendon.
It's pretty hard when the CEO of the AFL is pooting himself with fear that Richmond will be a powerhouse again.
-
From the mouth of Grigg (below) in his latest interview about the Cats game, starting to get funny now isn't it, all the players can see it, the coach admits it, but still some blinded supporters always seem to accept these losses, or make the excuses. Oh we are still young, we are developing, this player this, that player that, the umpires, we were playing last year Grand Finalists, we did play a top 4 team, they were bigger, we had the wind against us.....bla bla bla......
stuff me, NO MORE stuffING EXCUSES!!!!!!
"We're pretty confident now and we are past the development stage," he said.
-
when the game was there for the taking, their seasoned and experienced campaigners stood up while a couple of our inexperienced blokes made a couple of crucial errors.
That was the difference.
Has nothing to do with the club accepting close enough being good enough.
Owl, i hope you take note of the zealots comments. That sarcastic rhetoric of yours is our downfall, and if we lose next week it will because of such comments. Wake up to yourself son, your holding the club back.

:lol Yes the coaching and playing staff are always affected by such actions.
I also hope you are not making excuses, Al.
Oh hang on, the Geelong guys being more experienced and our young blokes making mistakes sounds like reasons for losing, not excuses.

Is there a point to the increases font size? Has there been a complaint by our more senior posters?
Us non-baby boomers have to put up with enough rubbish from that generation, what next :banghead

lol even the ranga is piping in? Maybe he should STFU bc his 3 quick freekicks in the last didnt help the cause :lol
discaimer - yes I know it wasnt just Jacko, there were some bad errors from some of the golden ones like Lids's miss and Concas edwards-esque unforced errors, but really Jacko has no right to be talking it up, the young guys who are already better than him must be thing wtf when they hear that?
-
I miss the days when we could cheer ourselves up after a loss by sacking someone.

Looking closely at the game I think our forward line is close to 'clicking'. A good start, few lucky bounces and some half decent umpiring and we might have been off and running

Clearly.we're nowhere near being past noble losses.
I'd say we'r more destined for such and the coaching has done nothing to implement a strategy to surpass it.which makes them a pack of buck passing car salesmen.
Spare me,Damien.
