Thought I start a thread about trade week rumours and scuttlebutt as there'll be a million of them up to the friday 2pm deadline of trade week.
Here's a rumour from Langdon and Barich out West last night involving us.......
Mundy has asked to be traded to Richmond!! :P
Warnock definately to leave Dockers.
Eagles will take Natanui if available over Rich.

What the hell will Mundy add to our team. We already have Thursfield, Moore and McGuane (with Rance in the wings) who are all as good or better than Mundy IMO. We should be looking at someone who can hold down CHF or an inside mid.
-
Mundy would be a good get for us, great kick more of a tall winger than a backman. Trade JON for him.
-

now your talking.....
JON has got to go. even if we get a 2nd or 3rd pick for him we should take it.
-
dont need mundy, especially for his asking price, any trades done this year will be determined by the percieved value of our fringe players. Trading for straight picks wont happen.
The value of players like Polo, Hughes, pattison will determine whether we trade for any players this year.
-
We have no need for Mundy, I wouldn't swap anything earlier than a 4th rounder for him
-
One rumour I recently heard was that Melb would swap Pick 1 and their 3rd round draft pick for West Coasts pick 3 and Warnock. This would ensure WC gets Natanui and Melb still gets Rich.
I don't think we need Mundy - we need a Ruckman, that's who we should be trading for if anyone!

How are West Coast going to trade Warnock when he plays for Freo?

:lol :banghead
Sorry I just can't tell those Western Australian's apart! :whistle
Fremantle wan't Natanui and so does WC so this trade would effectively give them the leg up on their cross-town rivals without costing Melb much at all.

Too much to lose for Melbourne, they have #1 PSD so should be able to do a much better deal than that

One rumour I recently heard was that Melb would swap Pick 1 and their 3rd round draft pick for West Coasts pick 3 and Warnock. This would ensure WC gets Natanui and Melb still gets Rich.
One of the radio stations (can't remember if it was 3AW or SEN) alluded to the same rumour. I didn't pick up on the player included but they suggested that if Melb & WCE swapped first round picks WCE would take Natinui and Melb would get the mid fielder of their choice.
Have to say it sounded strange to me because If Melb has pick 1 they can take the mid fielder and WCE still get Natinui...
-
Thing that goes against all those rumours is that Melbourne have used early draft picks recently on a key defender and midfielders, they are in dire need of a key forward so will probably pick Watts anyway
-
Melbourne will go for Watts.
The latest rumour from Langdon is that Cousins to Collingwood in the PSD is a done deal. If this is from the same sauce as the Mundy to Richmond one then it has to be crap. Why would we want another flanker ::). Mundy is 192cm tall but he doesn't play KP in Freo's defence.

We have to many of his type at RFC anyway, Thursfield, McGuane, Moore and Rance. We dont need another one like Mundy.

This is only possible if he's passed up in the National Draft by every club, personally I can't see that happening, if a club wants him they will just use a late National Draft pick if no one else has taken him, or alternatively he'll go in the 1st or 2nd round.
-
Is it possible to trade future draft picks(say next seasons first round?) like they do in the nba or is it still being looked into?
-
Is it possible to trade future draft picks(say next seasons first round?) like they do in the nba or is it still being looked into?
That's being looked at as an option for the Gold Coast when they take 1 player from each of the 16 teams but it wont be brought in for all clubs to use.

Emerging Fremantle ruckman Robbie Warnock is likely to make a decision on his playing future within a week — and is still believed to be favouring staying at the Dockers.
The 205cm left-footer, who with David Mundy is one of the Dockers’ highest contract priorities, is in Melbourne talking the issue over with his family.
Mundy is believed to have attracted interest from Richmond and Hawthorn. Melbourne and Carlton in particular have indicated interest in Warnock.
Warnock, 21, has played only 21 AFL games in the past two seasons but his mobility and skill have led to a $1 million three-year price tag.
Mundy, a defender who moved to midfield this season, could command a similar price.

$1 million for Mundy plus a trade of some sort is just to steep.
I heard another rumour about a young Adelaide ruckman who has elected Richmond as his prefered club for next season and asked for both clubs to work out a trade deal. Name escapes me at the moment.

Wouldnt mind him. Been injury prone but when fit showed how good he can be earlier this year. :thumbsup

And before Polak's injury I would have gleefully handed them Schulz but now I'm not so sure.
-
This is why trade time is so difficult. I want Schulz on our team too but we have other players like him who are ahead of him and, most crutially, we are in desperate need of a backup ruckman.
If Schulz is traded he has the very real chance of becoming the Power Forward at another club and, like Rodan and Ottens, embarrassing us for years to come. :(
All the same I think we need to trade to shore up our deficencies and health of our list not just the potential of individual players.

Really the only player I think we have like Schulz is Polak and we know the liklihood of him ever playing again.
Schulz is one of the few genuinely tall kpps we have and who's body is developed enough to stand up to the rigours of a full AFL season.
We are struggling for talls as it is, the last thing we need to be doing is getting rid of them.
-
One thing to note is Griffin's season ended when the Crows decided his hip problem required surgery. How serious is this hip problem?!
-
True but we need a good Ruckman of size (read 198+ and strong)that is both young enough to play in our future success but big enough to take up our No 2 ruck while Simmo is still floating about.
At the moment we have Patto who is no real ruckman at all plu GUS and Putt who are too young. We need someone to fill in the hole and with Schulz our No 4 Tall Backman with Rance ready to step in, Jay could find himself as trade bait in a swap for a ruckman.

The Dockers are also desperate to re-sign 23-year-old midfielder/defender David Mundy, who is attracting strong interest from several Melbourne clubs, including Richmond and Hawthorn.
"David's very much a required player and we've moved him into the midfield," Harvey said.
"It's a big part of what we are doing going forward."

Yes exactly.
if this is true then we deserve to be in the wilderness for another 5 years.
we have stuffed up many times doing this exact thing, and as recently as last year with Mcmahon so FFS lets not make the same mistake.
Mundy, Warnock :clapping why cant we blood on our own. how about investing some money into that.

Cartledge isnt AFL standard, Putt is a full forward/fp-ruck type, and Graham is struggling, and yes we have big concerns in the ruck, but that doesnt mean we should cough up our picks or $500k a year for Warnock.
-
Exactly right. Rucks are overrated these days, we're much better sticking with what we've got than splashing ridiculous money and trade value on a young, largely unproven ruck.

Dockers could lose star pair
Michael Gleeson | September 11, 2008
FREMANTLE, having lost the battle to convince promising beanpole ruckman Robert Warnock to remain in the west, now confronts the even more damaging prospect of losing a second player to homesickness, with David Mundy still undecided on where he will play next year.
Rangy defender Mundy, a highly rated running player, would be even more keenly sought than Warnock by Victorian clubs.

Tim Boyle may be shopped around by the Hawks. He's considered a spare forward.
Hawthorn will soon step up interest in out-of-contract Fremantle utility David Mundy, who is contemplating a return home to Victoria after three years on the Dockers' list.
Mundy, one of three Fremantle players to play all 22 games this season, deferred contract talks with the Dockers until the end of the season, and the Hawks have him in their sights to fill a role in defence next year.

I'll judge Gus after he hopefully gets through a full preseason this summer. The bigger blokes more than anyone need a full preseason.

Paul Roos said the Swans will still go down the path of trading picks for players. A way of getting another earlish pick possibly.
"Look, it may be a re-building year. But I think we will continue that formula of taking young kids, but also equally we have done a good job of getting players [from] other clubs to contribute significantly to the team."

The Hawks have spoken with Mundy's management in the last fortnight. The Dockers will want a first-round draft pick or a young, up-and-coming player in exchange for Mundy. Hawthorn may consider a swap of forward Tim Boyle for Mundy.
The 23-year-old Mundy has also attracted interest from other Victorian clubs including Richmond, which wants to lure established young talent to the club.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,24341445-19742,00.html
Eagles will find out this week if Kerr is staying or going. He wants a 5-year deal but West Coast will only offer 3-years on top of next year. There's also a on and off-field behaviour clause in it. As mentioned Swans are interested plus the Saints and Carlton have been linked to Kerr.

So does anyone agree that Freo are misusing him and in what role should he be played? Also would he benefit Richmond. Just asking because I don't know enough about him. Rarely enjoy watching Freo

Greg Denham | September 17, 2008
Adelaide football manager, John Reid, scoffed at speculation that young ruckman Jonathon Griffen was homesick and wanted to return to Western Australia, where he was last week linked to Fremantle.
"On the contrary," Reid said. "He's got one more year remaining on his current contract and he's given no indication that he wants to leave, and has said he is staying."
Griffin was originally recruited from East Fremantle and started with the Crows on their rookie list.
He has played 28 games over the past two seasons, including 12 matches this year. But, after playing 10 in succession this season, he did not play a senior game after round 15.

Dogs to chase big men
Brent Diamond | September 21, 2008
WESTERN Bulldogs president David Smorgon has urged the club to trade aggressively to recruit a tall forward in the wake of its preliminary final loss to Geelong, saying "everyone looking at the Doggies over the last couple of years know that we're a couple of tall men short".
"I'm sure we'll be pretty aggressive about (recruiting talls) because we need to add to it (the forward line) as a club," he said. "We're not just going to accept finishing third and (thinking) everything will happen for us in the course of 2009 … It doesn't work like that in footy."
Smorgon said the Bulldogs must fill what he described as a "gaping hole" at full-forward.
It is understood that tall, marking forwards, such as Hawthorn's Tim Boyle and Geelong's Tom Hawkins who have lacked chances this season, will be looked at.

As a said in these forums a couple of days ago Hawkins is the one we should chase. Hawkins will be a star. A powerful key forward. If hes available, then hes the one Richmond should go after.

Hawkins was a father son to Geelong, no way he'll go anywhere
Pretty much how I see it too Infamy. The whole league made such a song and dance when Geelong got him way under the odds as a father and son pick. He is only in his 2nd season and as a big kid will naturally take a bit of time. Would think that they see him as a natural replacement (and upgrade) on Mooney when he retires - I really don't think Geelong will allow it to get even close to a negotiable situation. Wasting our time even thinking about him.
-
I'm not sure if this is the place to put in this request or create a new thread but does anyone know who the likely top 10 draftees will be?
On another matter - Schulz will be a much sort after player during trade week if we are willing to put him up. There are alot of teams out there looking for a ready-made young forward. We almost traded him last year but with Polak out and his recent form in the backline do we really want to lose him?

I don't understand the joke - is it because I accidently wrote Polo twice? Help me out and what does the acronym FWIW stand for?
I'm not keen on getting rid of Schulz, Meyer or Polo to be honest and, if it was up to me, I would keep them both. I would take the 3rd round pick for Kingy or agree to upgrade our 2nd round pick.
Meyer has been playing good football for Coburg lately and is still young. Port showed interest last season.
If Vickery (sp?) slips through to Pick 8 I will be surprized but he would be a great choice for us. McKennan could also be a good pick up - tall, strong and a natural forward. Said to be a little slow but if he is around when our second pick is avaiable then I would snatch him up.

I agree with Schulz, Meyer and Polo and now that Kingy has re-signed I am thinking we aren't going to be too involved at all but who knows. I reckon they might gamble on a 'good' big bloke (Vickery especially) getting throught to pick 8.

Word from Essendon fans is the Bombers are interested in Dal Santo. Saints may use this to trade for Kerr.
St Kilda
Receive: Daniel Kerr
Lose: Nick Dal Santo, Pick 13
West Coast:

Lose: Daniel Kerr, Pick 20
Essendon:
Receive: Nick Dal Santo, Pick 20
Lose: Pick 5

Sounds like something from an Essendon fan to me as it favours them too much
Take Pick 20 out of the equation and it looks about right
Nick Dal Santo for Pick 5 is enough
Kerr for 5 & 13 is enough
Maybe replace pick 20 with a 3rd rounder instead of the early 2nd rounder

Bomber fans want more than Dal Santo for pick 5. You're right Infamy, perhaps the West Coast's 3rd round pick #36 instead of pick 20 as an Eagles fan suggested on BF.

Seems the Barry Hall to the Bulldogs rumour is gaining momentum...
BARRY Hall is contemplating walking away from the Sydney Swans and is seriously considering signing with the Western Bulldogs. The Bulldogs and Fremantle are chasing the former Swans co-captain and have offered him multi-year deals, according to sources close to Hall. He has told friends he is not keen to move to Perth but is open to moving back to Melbourne.
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,24387727-19742,00.html
THE Western Bulldogs have unofficially approached controversial Sydney spearhead Barry Hall as their search for a big key forward intensifies in the lead-up to next month's trade week. Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade is believed to have communicated his interest to the 31-year-old, who is contracted to the Swans until the end of next year but is pushing for a one-year contract extension he is unlikely to receive until the 2009 season is underway.

Who would interest us?

Dowler
Thorp
Taylor
What are your thoughts on any of these?
I think Mitch Thorp would be very handy

at that price I would prefer street for free.
ATM we have simmo patto graham and putt coming through
if we get vickery or tengrove that makes 4 ruckman on the list developing none of which are ready to play seniors
we dont need taylor especially for a top 25 pick, i wouldtake street as a stop gap meausure for 2 years till the young ones are ready, or better still keep cartilage.
Either way trading for a b/c grade ruckman or paying 1.4 million for warnock ( on potential )just doesnt appeal

What happens there. Isn't trade week before the F/S bidding? ??? A loophole in the rule. Trade your first pick for a gun experienced player and then pick up the gun F/S with a mid-30s pick.

ST KILDA yesterday denied that contracted big-game flops, Nick Dal Santo and Justin Koschitzke, were being hawked around to rival clubs.
The highly paid pair, who are believed to each earn upwards of $450,000 a season, will remain at Moorabbin next season, unless "a massively attractive trade deal was offered", according to a senior Saints source. Rival Melbourne clubs yesterday reported that both players had been offered to them for first-round draft choices, but this was emphatically denied by St Kilda.

Blues hunt Daniel Kerr
Jim Wilson | September 27, 2008
CARLTON has emerged as a leading contender to snare West Coast's Daniel Kerr, but Sydney and Port Adelaide are also still in the hunt.
Kerr, who is in Melbourne for promotional appearances at today's Grand Final, is believed to be talking with the Blues.
Blues insiders have indicated there is enough room in the salary cap to lure Kerr to Princes Park.
His preference is a long-term deal with West Coast.
The Swans are prepared to offer the star midfielder a five-year deal.
"I imagine we would be getting it done in the next week or so, and hopefully we can say it is all over and I am going to stay with the Eagles," Kerr told a Perth radio station.
"I would like to see out my career as an Eagle, and that's why I'm seeking a longer contract."

Big names likely to stay put
Greg Denham | September 30, 2008
THE AFL's annual five-day player exchange period starts on Monday, but don't expect a flurry of activity this year following last season's Chris Judd-led resurgence of trade week.
Following several years of reduced activity during the second week of October, a total of 17 trades were completed last season, eight more than in 2006.
Last year Judd was the highest-profile player to be traded since Wayne Carey was swapped to Adelaide in the twilight of his career at the end of 2002 for overall selections two and 18.
The West Coast premiership captain and Brownlow medallist was one of five premiership players to switch clubs last year, the others being Steven King, who less than a fortnight earlier played in Geelong's massive win over Port Adelaide, Sydney Swans Adam Schneider and Sean Dempster, and Brisbane's Richard Hadley.
With the start-up of the Gold Coast in 2011 followed by a team out of west Sydney scheduled for 2012, this year's national draft will be the last "uncompromised" draft for at least five years, so most clubs, if not all, are reluctant to give up first-round selections. That appears likely to go against Daniel Kerr moving from West Coast, as the Eagles have demanded two picks inside the top 10 for him as he is already contracted to the end of 2009.
Sydney would dearly love Kerr and is prepared to offer him a five-year contract, but how can the Swans, who at the moment have pick No11 to barter with, possibly satisfy the Eagles?
Even if Rodney Eade's desire to have Barry Hall playing at the Western Bulldogs next year is fulfilled, what the Swans would get in return would not go close to appealing to the Eagles.
No doubt Essendon will have a crack at Kerr, but what are the Bombers prepared to give up in return? They have got pick five and a bunch of young West Australians, including Patrick Ryder, Scott Gumbleton, David Myers, Tayte Pears, Kyle Reimers and Leroy Jetta.
If Essendon can't deal, Kerr is almost certain to stay in Perth.
So, with no Kerr, no Hall, no Alan Didak, who appears certain to remain with Collingwood despite a history of poor off-field behaviour, and with Jonathan Brown having re-signed with Brisbane, who is left?
The biggest name without a home is Ben Cousins, but the disgraced former Eagles captain will only surface in November or December, should the AFL Commission give him permission to return to the game via the draft system after a 12-month ban for bringing the game into disrepute.
The wild-card next week could be St Kilda big man Justin Koschitzke, who may be a good fit for the Western Bulldogs.
The Dogs are in desperate need of a power forward, while the Swans need a replacement for recently retired ruckman Peter Everitt.
Sydney coach Paul Roos yesterday hosed down interest from his club when he said Koschitzke was "not in our plans".
Roos, who is confident of keeping Hall for another two years, is more focused on retaining out-of-contract star Ryan O'Keefe following a week-long stalemate in negotiations.
Koschitzke could be an attractive proposition in a different environment, but he carries the baggage of too many big-game failures.
He averaged 12 disposals this season, and was hardly sighted in St Kilda's preliminary final loss with 10 touches, three marks and no goals.
If Koschitzke, 26, does go, St Kilda will probably keep midfielder Nick Dal Santo, who is two years younger.
Josh Carr wants to return to Port Adelaide, where he played in its 2004 premiership, and Fremantle will not put up too many obstacles for that to happen.
In another mutual arrangement, Essendon appears certain to part company with contracted midfielder Andrew Lovett, who was twice suspended by the Bombers this year for breaching team rules.

SYDNEY is leading the chase for Andrew Lovett.
Lovett is also on the radar of Fremantle and West Coast, but Sydney is the first club to show genuine interest. Age says Brisbane are interested too.
Essendon has plenty of room in its salary cap and Lovett could be ideal bait to strike a trade with any club.
There is also speculation Bombers midfielder Brent Stanton is attracting interest, possibly also from Sydney.
The Bombers had expressed interest in Saint Nick Dal Santo's situation, but were repeatedly told by the Saints that Dal Santo — or Justin Koschitzke — was not on the trade table.
If O'Keefe decides to leave the Swans, Essendon is believed to be high on his list of preferred destinations.
Lovett and O'Keefe are advised by Stride Management, adding fuel to the theory they could both be involved in any deal between the clubs.

2000 was the last time we didn't trade for a player from another club. We traded away Ben Harrison and Mark Merenda though so we were still involved in trade week.
Since 2000
2001: traded for Hudson, Stafford; traded away Bourke
2002: traded for Johnson; traded away Torney
2003: traded for Browny
2004: traded for Simmonds; traded away Ottens, Fiora
2005: traded for Paddy Bowden
2006: traded for Polak
2007: traded for McMahon, Morton
1986-88 (first 3 years of the draft) we didn't trade at all according to this book with the drafts (AFL 2004) but I'm pretty sure we recruited Michael Mitchell, Peter Wilson and of course Plough before the 1987 season.
So 1988 is the closest answer as KB went with kids given we were broke. So that's 20 years ago :o.

Ryan O'Keefe has put a $600k per year price on his head.
Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn and now the Western Bulldogs have begun circling for him.

Williams really wants Watts but has got no chance of getting him. If Port didn't go for Vickery then there's a strong chance he'll fall to us. The Bombers want Yarran, Voss wants mids and Carlton won't need another young ruck if they get Warnock.

Player managers are great aren't they ... :whistle
-----------------------------
Young men thrive in AFL deals
JOHN TOWNSEND
There is no doubt who is the most powerful man in WA footy at the moment.
It’s not West Coast boss Trevor Nisbett or his Fremantle counterpart Steve Rosich.
And it’s not rival coaches John Worsfold and Mark Harvey.
It’s not even WA football director Grant Dorrington, who has a finger in most pies involving the game.
No, the person with the most power is player manager Colin Young whose influence is at its peak at this time of year when clubs and players are considering their options.
Young has designed the deal that is likely to see Fremantle ruckman Rob Warnock set sail for Carlton next year.
The contracts may not have been signed yet but you can punt plenty on pen being put to paper before too long.
Like all the other powerful football managers, Young answers to no one but his client.
And even then he may be playing a convoluted game like the ones savoured by manager Paul Connors in which a priority client such as Chris Judd gets the cream while other lesser players are pawns in the deal.
Clubs have to keep sweet with Young and his ilk to make sure they can deal with players.
Sometimes this means recruiting players they don’t particularly want in order to get the big fish.
The Judd deal saw Josh Kennedy come to the Eagles but it also saw Brisbane’s injury-prone Richard Hadley go to Carlton.
Hadley is a Connors client. The former East Fremantle player had little future at the Lions but the manager needed him to be accommodated and used the goodwill he had gained over the Judd coup to seal the deal with Carlton.
There were few losers in that deal. Carlton picked up a star, Brisbane got rid of a player they didn’t want and the manager kept two clients happy.
The Blues may have got a player they didn’t want or need but every club has a dud or two on their books and realise that is the price they have to play to negotiate with the game’s real powerbrokers.
Young also acts for Daniel Kerr, who has a year to go on his West Coast contract but is clearly tradeable for the right deal.
That means just one thing – Young’s phone will come close to meltdown in coming weeks as clubs play suitor to him as part of a potential Kerr deal.

Collingwood midfielder Rhyce Shaw is looking for a new home.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,24447858-19742,00.html
FREMANTLE coach Mark Harvey says the club will not accept Carlton's No.24 draft pick for young ruckman Robbie Warnock.
"Robbie is in his fourth year as a league ruckman and he is a terrific kid and he's got a lot of things going for him, particularly his age," Harvey told afl.com.au.
"So we're looking for something below [pick No.24]."

Prismall 'seriously' considers his options
Samantha Lane and Michael Gleeson | October 6, 2008
THE two-year deal Geelong has offered Brent Prismall has not convinced the emerging midfielder that his opportunities to play senior football wouldn't be greater elsewhere.
While the Cats said yesterday that the 22-year-old 25-gamer, who required major knee surgery after the qualifying final, would have held his position in the Cats' grand final side had he not been injured, Prismall is open to a move.
North Melbourne and Melbourne are believed to head the list of interested parties in Prismall, who, according to his manager, would be fit to return by mid-season next year at the latest but could even be fully recovered by round one.

SEN rumours
Wheatley to the Swans for pick 30
Lovett + pick 23 to the Swans for pick 12
Eade said the dogs are looking at all talls so Boyle will be considered.
-
If the Swans are so willing to give away a first round draft pick, what can we give them??
-
If the Swans are so willing to give away a first round draft pick, what can we give them??
The only thing we have that they would want that we could give away is Nathan Brown.
-
Prismall has requested a trade from Geelong. Not contracted of course so Balme says he holds all the cards.

Would not be too disappointed to us give Browny to the Swans for a first rounder. :thumbsup
-
Its a trade where we would be the losers over the first 3 years but when Brown retires we still have a 21 yo player with 10 years to play so everyone wins, Browny can also expand his clothing business if he goes to Sydney.
-
Would only be win win if the player we drafted was not a dud but deep down I would not think that Browny would be upset on moving to Sydney.

you do realise NB will be 31 next yr, it would be the first itme since Carey that club would swap a R1 pick for a player of that vintage, pretty sure NB doesn't have the allure he had as a 24 yo

Trade talk in the media (Ch 10, Age)....
Ch 10 news in Perth said there's interest from other clubs in Eagle Ashley Hansen.
Hawthorn is prepared to discuss ruckman Simon Taylor.
Jamie Charman could also be in the trade market at the right price, which would be a first-round draft pick — an outcome considered unlikely.
Prismall wants to leave the Cats and Essendon is the preferred destination. Melbourne and Fremantle are also interested discussing a possible third-round draft pick as part of a trade.
Sydney and Hawthorn expressed keen interest in Brad Green, who remains out of contract. The Demons have offered him a three-year deal and are hopeful he will stay.
Sydney remains firm favourite to secure Andrew Lovett, who is up for trade. The Bombers are seeking a pick between 15 and 20 for Lovett while the Swans' second pick is No. 30.
Sydney has asked the Hawks not only for their first-round pick (No. 16), but a player, in return for Ryan O'Keefe. O'Keefe would have to accept less than what other clubs will offer to head to Waverley.
Hawk Tim Boyle has attracted interest from St Kilda as well as the Bulldogs.
Port Adelaide has also shown interest in uncontracted Saint Xavier Clarke.
Hawthorn has indicated it is willing to listen to offers for forwards Mitch Thorp and Beau Dowler.

Trade talk from the Herald-Sun/Australian...
CARLTON'S Irish experiment with the O'hAilpin brothers could be over. Setanta and younger brother Aisake appear to be on the market after day one of trade week, with the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide showing interest in 25-year-old Setanta. The Blues would like the Bulldogs' second-round selection (No. 32) and although they would ask for Port's No. 22 pick, selection No. 38 is a more likely talking point.
Carlton also has so far not budged on its initial offer to the Dockers of its second-round selection, No24, which could lead to Warnock nominating his asking price and entering the national draft next month. Under that scenario, Carlton would still be favoured to gain Warnock's services with selection 24 as the Blues have more room to manoeuvre than most clubs within their cap. Freo want the Blues pick 6.

SEN says Cat Shannon Byrnes is now on the trade table.
Geelong and Essendon could swap Prismall and Lovett.

this trade week has begun as boringly as all the others. The AFL needs to cut this down to 48 hours maximum. Its a waste of time.

Just more rubbish rumours today. A sms to SEN claiming inside info had us giving up our 2nd pick for Corey Jones.

SEN lives of this type of crap. Idiots at home making up trades, having a laugh at the idiots on SEN that take the rumours seriously. The world is stuffed, everythings going downhill and we have to put up with poo like that. The AFL should call the whole thing of. Its a joke.

It should be only 48 hours long tops. The first 3 days are a utter waste of time and just an excuse for bravado by the clubs making ridiculous claims.

What ever happened to Supertiger and his promise last year of getting L.Hansen to Richmond at the end of 2008? ;D

I am dutybound to inform you that Supertiger exists no more on BigFooty. Supertiger Inc, decided that the company was on to many forums wasting its time for non profitable purposes and duly decided to pull the plug on Big Footy. Supertiger is no more in the big bad world of BigFooty. Finally Supertiger Inc. is pleased that during this trade period others have taken up the cudgells of writing crap on BigFooty and the Hansen to Richmond rumours actually got a run from other posters. ;D

Day 2 snippets from the media....
Brisbane have shown interest in Ben Cousins
Andrew Lovett's ability to find a new home became more complicated last night after Sydney, which had publicly declared its interest in recruiting him, withdrew from the chase, while Geelong's interest hit a salary-cap wall. Lovett is believed to be contracted to Essendon for about $250,000 a year.
Likewise Hawthorn can't afford Ryan O'Keefe's asking price and has offered him less.
Carlton remains adamant that pick 24 is sufficient to secure Robert Warnock in a trade, but Fremantle remains unimpressed with the offer.
Brad Green's future remains uncertain at Melbourne. Sydney has entered the race for the uncontracted Demon, whom Hawthorn also has registered an interest in.
WEST Coast premiership forward Ashley Hansen is moving closer to the top of the Western Bulldogs trade hit-list. A straight swap between Dog Farren Ray and Hansen may not be out of the question, although the Eagles may ask for something extra.
The Dogs believe Farren Ray is worth a high second round pick but may get no closer to that than West Coast's third round selection, pick 36, or Fremantle's third round choice, pick 37. The Saints have indicated they will not part with pick 31 for the 22 year-old.
-
If St Kilda had Fiora and Farren on the one list Moorabbin would become squib paradise. :lol

Ch 10 trade whispers:
A 3-way swap with O'Keefe heading to Hawthorn, Green to Sydney and pick 16 to Melbourne.
Prismall may be heading to Essendon however Geelong wants the Bombers 2nd round pick (#23) and Essendon is only offering their 3rd (#39).
SEN just announced that Hamish McIntosh is officially off the trade table.

Trade Week: day three wrap
By Mic Cullen
6:45 PM Wed 08 October, 2008
IN TRUTH, not a lot has changed in the last 48 hours besides the Hamish McIntosh situation, but here's what we know. (Apart from the fact that clubs want to hang on to their first round picks, which everyone knows.)
Adelaide:
Early enquiries about Graham Johncock, Jon Griffin and Brent Reilly, but the club isn't interested. Nothing in-bound as players apparently aren't interested in moving to South Australia, according to recruiting manager Matt Rendell.
Brisbane Lions:
Jamie Charman was mentioned but the club wants to keep him.
Carlton:
Still chasing Freo's Robbie Warnock, but couldn't do a deal for Swan Ryan O'Keefe. Fremantle want more than clubs seem willing to part with for the 21-year-old tall, so we'll watch this one with interest, as it's the keystone for what happens with the other ruckmen.
Collingwood:
To nobody's surprise, Alan Didak is staying put.
Essendon:
Matthew Knights says the club is looking for youth and more youth, but could be interested in Ryan O'Keefe, despite youth not being his strong suit. Andrew Lovett has been linked and then de-linked to/from the Swans, and has also been talked about by Melbourne.
Fremantle:
Robbie Warnock is wanted by clubs, but they're not valuing the 21-year-old, 21-game ruckman as highly as Fremantle. Josh Carr, who cost Freo three picks in the 2004 NAB AFL Draft when he came over from Port Adelaide, may end up walking back to the Power through the pre-season draft.
Geelong:
Brent Prismall has attracted attention from Essendon, no doubt in relation to the story about Lovett going to the Cattery. Melbourne have also asked about him.
Hawthorn:
Still in the mix for O'Keefe, despite saying they can't afford him. Tim Boyle might be let go if the right offer arrives.
Melbourne:
Brad Green is still a chance to be traded as he's uncontracted, and the Hawks, Pies and Swans have enquired. Chris Johnson and Mark Jamar were enquired about, while the club says it's still interested in reuniting Robbie Warnock with his brother if he doesn't go to the Blues.
North Melbourne:
Having lobbed the Hamish McIntosh grenade on Monday, the club has now thrown itself on it, and says it was always unlikely. McIntosh has said he always wanted to stay so all's well that ends well. Daniel Harris and Corey Jones are contracted but on the table, with Harris saying he wants out.
Port Adelaide:
Seem set give up midfielder Adam Thomson for Richmond's third round pick (42), and should get Carr back through the pre-season draft. Showed some interest in Green, but that seems to have died.
Richmond:
The trade of Richmond's third round pick (42) for Port's Adam Thomson is all but done, but nothing is certain until the paperwork is stamped. Mark Seaby was mooted as a ruck partner for Troy Simmonds, but clubs are waiting to see how the Blues/Warnock deal eventuates before moving on ruckmen.
St Kilda:
Justin Koschitzke and Nick Dal Santo were mooted pre-Monday as trades, but the club has stood by them and no movement has been detected.
Sydney Swans:
O'Keefe is the big one; he's expected to leave with the Hawks leading the betting. Essendon's Lovett might still be a target.
West Coast:
Always quiet except when forced to participate, as it was last year. Seaby wants more ruck time and is prepared to go elsewhere to get it, but the club says he's contracted and wants a first round pick for him. Another waiting on the Warnock situation.
Western Bulldogs:
Could do with a tall forward. Farren Ray said he wants to leave, but the club wants an early second round pick for him, which seems unlikely.

-
According the Age, the Dees would get pick 16 plus Hawk ruckman Simon Taylor for offloading Green to Sydney with O'Keefe heading to Hawthorn if he accepts a pay cut to play with the reigning premiers. If the Swans miss out on Green, Corey Jones is a trade option.
Melbourne is also willing to better Carlton offer for Warnock by offering pick 19 instead. However Warnock doesn't want to go to the Dees.
Brisbane and Carlton have shown interest in Saint Xavier Clarke.
Port are interested in Blue Adam Bentick.

I reckon he wouldn't mind going to the Dee's if he had to. His brother is there at least.
Playing alongside Judd is more important than playing alongside his brother it seems :whistle. The AFL trying to avoid free agency again like they did with Judd last year.
Hawthorn and Carlton have turned this week into more a farce than it usually is. One minor trade (us) in 4 days is ridiculous.
-
Day 4 media reports of trade week in the today's papers..
O'Keefe to Hawthorn trade has fallen over after Hawthorn changed their mind about offering pick 16. They now are offering pick 34 + player (Dowler/Thorp). The Hawks also gave Sydney a untouchables list that didn't include Jordan Lewis however when Sydney said they wanted Lewis the Hawks added him to the list.
Carlton are now a target for O'Keefe. A swap of pick 6 + a player for O'Keefe and pick 12 has been rumoured.
Carlton has also emerged as a suitor for Western Bulldogs midfielder Farren Ray. It is understood the Blues are prepared to swap a player for Ray.
Brad Green doesn't want to go to Sydney. Carlton, Collingwood and Hawthorn are interest.
Freo is willing to lose Warnock for nothing rather than just accept pick 24 for him. The Blues have added to pick 24 swapping their 4th round pick for Freo's fifth rounder. Carlton are telling other clubs to forget about chasing after Warnock as he only wants to join Carlton. They will put a massive price on his head if he goes into the National draft or PSD.
St Kilda is believed to have shown interest in Melbourne bad boy Nathan Carroll.
Essendon has offered only pick 39 for Prismall, which Geelong has not accepted. Prismall has told Geelong he wants it to deal exclusively with Essendon but, presuming Lovett is not part of the trade, the Cats have so far been unable to agree with Essendon.
