Difference between Jackson and Cousins is that Jackson has all the qualities of an ideal tagger while Cousins doesn't. With Jackson out we need to find someone with comparitive strength and endurance to fufill the role. King has been playing a sort of tagging role on players this year but we may need one other.

Including Cousins and Tambling should be an almost given. Replacing Griffiths with either Post or Gourdis is the other decision that needs to be made.

Interestingly, we don't have a lot of players who can tag.

Stripes

yes but Cousins tags a tagger most times so can work both ways

When was the last time you watched football....

Cousins tagging a tagger... yeah.. One of games best midfielders in the last 25 years most tmes tags a run with dribbler.

That has never happened once in his 250 game career.

I think they mean this.
If Cousins is getting tagged, he will try and run to an opposition player, thus causing a 2 on 1, therefore releasing one of him team mates

Jacko's a loss for us. Brings real grunt to a young side. His disposal isn't terrible, its terribly inconsistent at times, but its much better than Kingy for example. Sometimes Jack's spearing kicks are unreal. And for people who say you can't have a player who's more than anything else a good hard nut in a premiership side -

Scott boys
Josh Carr
Campbell Brown
Johnsons at Essendon

Of course when the rest of the team is up and running these blokes deficiencies are less obvious. When the rest of the team falls away or they move on, they look a lot more average.

Jacko certainly shook the little twit up after he smacked him. 2 weeks is worth it I reckon.

Cousins is a good replacement for Jacko.

IIRC he was a real smart rs the 1st time we played them. Typical Docker, walks tall at Subi and goes missing in Melbourne. They can't win a flag with squibs like him, if fact they'll be lucky to win a final

I only hope that whoever plays Fremantle this week has someone come out and do the exact same thing.  The sniveling little germ won't get another kick for the year - gutless sniping whingeing little twit.

Thats it Smokey, showing your colors now  ;D  :thumbsup

l been condoned in the past by many on here before,  about using such tactics on players & this just goes to show how effective it is.
That little sniper does it too many players,  sames as Crowley, Campbell Brown, North Melbourne team  ;D Baker, every team has a player. Just ours have lacked it in the past or done the wrong players.
The player Jackson smashed is a very damaging player who kicks goals & sets them up every week & if Jackson didnot clobber him it could have been a different result. lMO l beleive it would have been not taking anything away from our players or the win the result of that strike was excellent. l been wishing someone from any club would smash him.
Now someone has a chance to step up & claim a place in the side while someone else needs to take over the biff role if required ;D & against the Roos watch the knees go in when our players are on the ground

Don't blame me for you caveman speak,

"Cousins takes a tagger most weeks so it works both ways"

In response to the fact we don't have any taggers. That doesn't make any sense in context anyway. It also is incorrect.

Cousins hasn't been tagged since his WCE days, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 games at most at Richmond.

So I stand by my initial post.

Do you watch football?

Hardwick got stuck into Jacko today about getting suspended and it costing us games....

“We spoke to him [Jackson about the suspension],” Hardwick said.

“We want guys to play up to the line, but we don’t want them to step over it and that’s what Daniel’s done.

“He’s let the team down. He’s an outstanding leader on the field for us, we were disappointed in his actions and he’s cost us games. It’s amazing how the importance of one player around a stoppage situation can be and he’s cost us dearly the five weeks that he’s been out.”

You forgot the rest:

Hardwick on Daniel Jackson:
“I must admit before getting here I didn’t rate him anywhere near as highly as I do now. He is an enormous talent, not only on-field but his leadership is outstanding. Being near the ground you can hear his voice around the ground and he just does not stop talking. He has become, in my eyes, an elite player of this footy club. He’s just got to stop getting bloody suspended.”

Didn't think he'd done anything wrong against Adelaide.

Disposal (in particular kicking) was not the best on Sunday.

And also thought he did a few foolish things when he tried to take the opposition on when the option was to handball to the player running past

his disposal has improved remarkably and conditions were very difficult to be 100% polished

some of his disposals were first rate esp his handballs

very harsh to complain about skills in weather like that

Not disputing some of his disposal were good but some of them were dreadful

And it wasn't raining all day so I don't think we can blame the weather  ;D

very blustery out there, many players struggled with their kicking even some very reliable adelaide players
