Take the sash off and make the numbers yellow and we'll be able to see it real good lol

Even the yellow numbers were too squashed last year.

Make the numbers look like numbers especially the 0 and 3 plus make the yellow deeper.

Apologies for the crappy black outline but you get the idea.

Mighty, nice effort.

Can you try it again but this time only put a thick black outline on the yellow sash where the white and yellow actually meet.  You've made the number a bit too skinny by putting the black outline on the white number.  You can make the outline as thick as you want as it won't take away from the number, only the yellow sash.  Put a nice thick outline and give us a look.

Here you go Harry

If the black outline is too thick around the numbers it looks horrible. Better to remove the sash behind the number entirely.

I actually like the first one (with the thick outline) better. The 30 really stands out and is very visible.  The outline is a bit scruffy and it would look much better if it was straighter and neater.  I think the first one can work quite successfully coz you can really see the number without taking away the sash completely.  Mighty you should email the pic to the club so they can have a look at it.  Thanks for your effort btw.

Cheers Harry. Just to clarify the jumper on the left has about as thick an outline you can have without it looking like a mess (the outlines hit each other if it's thicker). Any thicker and you're better off with sash removed from behind the digits.

Blame my free-hand mouse drawing skills for the scruffiness  :P  :shh.

Well at least we'll now be able to change the numbers on the back of the guernsey :-\.

Saw a bit of the 1967 GF on the GF marathon and noticed the jumper numbers.  There didn’t seem to be any issues with distinguishing the numbers and mainly because they were much bigger than the current numbers.  The solution seems simple and obvious and surely couldn't be as confusing.

You're spot on about the numbers TS. The sash was also thinner wasn't it and a darker yellow almost orange which helped as well.

Here's a B&W image from the 1969 GF. The large white numbers stand out.

The 1967 footage shown was naturally in b+w.  The sash was thinner, as in the 1969 shot you’ve got here, but I’m not really sure whether the yellow was more orangey in those days or not.  In later years it was, as we know, and that’s how it was probably right up until Nike came on board back in 2001, I think.
