Casserley should really get a game soon at Richmond. There comes a time when you have to say, if you cant kick it properly you cant play, and for the boys who can dispense the footy properly- they should be getting rewarded.

RICHMOND forward Jay Schulz has set his sights on a return to the AFL after a month with the Coburg Tigers.

Schulz took a giant step forward with three goals to help Coburg defeat the Northern Bullants by 12 points in yesterday's clash in a mudbath at Preston.

Coburg's 10.14 (74) to 8.14 (62) victory locks them into fourth place on the VFL table.

Schulz's contribution pleased Coburg coach Andy Collins, particularly the six effective tackles he laid in conditions which didn't suit high-marking forwards.

"We are rapt to have Jay working with us as hard as he is and being team-focused," Collins said.

Schulz, 22, who played the first eight games of the season with Richmond, said Collins and Richmond coach Terry Wallace had told him to work harder and do the one-per centers after going through a "flat patch".

"I don't want to race through the rest of the year just playing in the VFL," he said. "I want to do the little things like having a tackling presence and get back into the Richmond side."

Collins lauded midfielder Alister Neville, who had 34 disposals, Jarrod Silvester, Luke McGuane and captain/ruckman Travis Ronaldson, who matched Bullants' debutant Cain Ackland in the second half.

Neville, who turns 22 next month, has been on the radar of AFL recruiting scouts since he was best-on-ground in the recent VFL and Western Australia interstate clash.

McGuane had 12 disposals and seven marks and provided a lot of dash from deep in defence.

"Luke is getting better and better and he has been superb over the past three weeks," Collins said.

Richmond forward Kent Kingsley booted 2.3 from five marks before being rested in the final quarter.
