TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK 9/5/04
« on: May 18, 2004, 08:07:55 PM »
As last weeks "On the Prowl" page was only up for a couple of days (yes I was slack last week) I thought I'd post it here and give you the answer on Thursday............

Who am I?
I was recruited from Subiaco and made my debut in 1983. There was alot of media speculation about me in the first half of 1983, so much so that reports suggested I was about to be sacked. I played mostly in the back half or as a tagger. I was told my services were no longer required after the 1985 season. Given number 10 I played 53 games for the Tigers and kicked 3 goals.

Here's one.

Infamous footballer - played "Reserves" for the Tiges in the early '80s and kicked a hundred goals - went on to play with 3 other clubs.

froars - Didn't he play one senior game? I seem to remember him playing in the forward pocket because Disco had FF sewn up, playing well but getting reported and rubbed out.
I liked his Mary Tyler-Moore hairstyle back then, it made him look like witchy-poo.  ;D

Well done MT - go and pat yourself on the back lol

Fishfinger, i think that must have been a night game - i don't think he played seniors.  Would have been hard playing in an era with Disco and BT in the same side trying to get a gig at FF.

Talking about Mark Jackson leads me to this question.....

In 1980 Roach and Jackson both kicked 100+ goals for the seniors & reserves respectively.

We also had a century goal kicker in the Under 19's - what was his name?

And does anyone know what happen to him?

Don't think BT arrived until '82 with Rioli.
I'm sure Jacko played in round 21 or 22 next to Roach due to sheer weight of performance in the 2's. I know it's a long time ago but I remember thinking what a big chance he'd blown to play in a premiership by thumping his opponent.

Speaking of century goalkickers who was the first Richmond player to achieve the feat?

Well I have checked the book "Tigerland" which lists all the players to represent the RFC up to and including 1991 and going by what it says....

Mark Jackson did not play senior footy for the Tigers

Peter Lane.

I wouldn't know what happened to him though.

Peter Lane is the man - would love to know what happened to him. He didn't end up playing senior VFL/AFL footy anywhere.
