When Hardwick was asked by the journos at his first media conference about what gameplan he wanted to implement at Punt Rd he replied it was one that would stand up in finals and his players would have to have the ability to play that style.

No surprise but based on the games so far this weekend finals footy hasn't changed. Bigger bodies across the ground don't get smaller during a final and finals pressure means having big targets up forward to kick long are vital as an 'out' when time and space is few and far between.

Note to our recruiters: Size does matter! Solid bodied mids and KPPs who will fill out please.

It's all very well to say our players don't put on muscle compared to other clubs and that's true to a degree but even the best strength and conditioning staff can't turn small sticks into tree trunks. As a side and list we are too small and get pushed aside far too easily. Also the doggies mosquito fleet gameplan is once again being shown up as flawed to win finals.

The Saints are another big side (far more mature as well to be fair). Apart from Farren Ray the rest mostly have solid bodies. A strong spine as well. The fundamentals of footy don't really change despite the game evolving all the time.

No doubt that Butcher will go to Melbourne with Tom Scully now.

I'd love Trengove but think if somehow Butcher was over looked by Melbourne it'd be a big win.

You're memory may be better than mine Infamy but I always thought Goddard and Wells were the clear top 2 that year in pre-draft talk. Brennan and Salopek probably the next 2.

He was massively underaged compared to the others and had shown quite a bit the year before as a kpp. He never had the same impact in the year he was eligible to be drafted, but was still taken high based off his reputation from the year before. Similar to the Clarke example used where he was considered a monty for the #1 pick in the preseason.

Schulzs must be traded by Richmond to save the lads football career.
He will never produce any form for the Richmond football club as his mind has been damaged by poor development.
for him to produce anything he is capable of producing,  he needs a fresh start at another club.
Only then he can be fully judged.  He dont have his heart in the game at present & is not enjoying football & wants out.
