It'll be closer to 7,000 by the time we get to 11th march. I'm sure there's a few to count over the long weekend and over the next 2 days plus some that haven't been counted from family day  8)

Things are crook if after 3 weeks they haven't included all the memberships sold on family day

WOuld think those numbers are in there

i think it is a great idea!

Because it would erode those who pay the 11 game membership, hence hurting overall revenue??

Going ok IMHO. Need to be as close to 40k as we can by the day before our 1st game. People like monky should join. The Gale vision for the Tigers needs everyones support, at least buy a membership!

An avg of 500 members sign up between now and then and that's another 8000 members on board. That would have us at 39-40000 members.

A 2-2 start would be encouraging and not unrealistic with our first four games being

Carlton(H)
Dogs(H)
Swans(A)
Demons(H)

will inflate figures even further.
Somewhere between 40-45 thousand members by the June 30 cutoff although improbable is still realistic and very achievable and based on our results last year would be an excellent result and a vote by the Richmond fans that they believe genuine plans are in place off field to improve the club on and off field. :thumbsup

If we could match last year's figure that would be a fantastic result.  Personally, I think if we are around the 35k mark by round 1 then we will have done very well and as you say Tucker, a half decent start could see us end up with 40 plus.  I would be more than happy with that all things considered.

This is the first year I've even considered applying for the interstate membership (I see it more as a donation given that I get nothing out of it and there are hundreds more eligible charities out there than the RFC)

No idea whether anyone from the club is reading this or even if anyone cares..

However I just want to say what a professionally executed package this year's "Yellow & Black - Feel it. Live it. Love it" membership drive has been.
The branding of the club has been consistent from top to tail across all advertising products, merchandising, web etc. etc. and it's a far cry from the amateur efforts of recent years.
The marketing department appears to finally be working hard to deliver a professional product and it's makes the RFC look infinitely more attractive in what is an increasingly competitive market.

These things won't get noticed by many but I sure as heck have been paying attention.
Great job RFC marketing department and those involved, someone's working their backside off behind the scenes to improve this aspect.
Keep up the fine work. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

They'd include all the memberships purchased at the game on Friday and other paper based applications over the weekend. Would have been processed on Tuesday after the long weekend.  Expect another bump of a thousand early next week and hopefully a bigger bump after round 1 when all the johnny came lately's or people who routinely join up start of year hop on board.  We are still tracking a fair few thousand behind last year.  I'd expect 40,000 all up by June - about 7k down on last year.

Maybe the stirring little video released today with Cotchin holding the cup will add a few more.

that's got B.Gale all over it. I've heard him mention several times now about the marketing and membership department and " exploring how we can better understand our members and their needs and how to get them on board".

Quick story from the 90's. I was coming out of high school, parents just got divorced, I was going to uni and was hardup for cash so let my membership lapse for 3 years. Not 1 single attempt at contact from the RFC, not one letter nada. At the same time my bro did the same thing with the hawks except he let it lapse for 5-6 yrs and he received a bombardment from the hawks every single year, 5 years on! incredible. No wonder they started passing us in the 90's, sure they count their pets but they were doggedly determined.

Club should go all out for membership numbers. The entry level package for people outside of Victoria isn't worth it. Create something very cheap for 4-5 years to explode the membership base.

So in the interest of building a worldwide brand, the RFC should introduce an international membership. This would be available by referral of an existing member for say $10 each and give them the basic merchandise plus access to RFC media content to follow us. Then we should negotiate with the AFL to lobby Telstra to give them live streaming video coverage of RFC matches as long as they are O/S.

Think about it - at that cost it is a nice xmas gift for your old flatmate in London, or the German bloke you worked with, or the Canadian girl on exchange you rooted. For $10 each you could easily double our membership count. We would lobby the AFL to subsidize the media content.

The club does have a membership that does not include any game entries. The tiger insider is $80, which is probably a little overpriced and interestingly is not included in the official memebership tallies. It does get you acknowledged in the reward programs and other membership benefits, so it may not be a bad idea for someone just wanting to make a 'donation'.
