Still well down on last year but best marketing ploy the club has done in years is to join the other clubs in combining their membership numbers in the total. Means we are finally comparing with them on almost level terms. All we have to do now is to create and include memberships of around the 3 game package such as the Hawks do for their Tassie memberships and we can get a realistic figure.

Those type of minor memberships should never be allowed to be included but if other clubs do we should as well.

Stripes

Any type of membership money any club receives should be counted if a membership card is given out
Dont matter if your a 50 year member or 1 year member, they are all valued & equal IMV.

See I don't agree Monk. I think a $70 compared to a $500 membership is considerably different. Yes they are both financial members but if we are attempting to compare value to a club then you could have 6 of the first type and still come short of one of the more expensive membership type. Sure you could argue about equal commitment and not punishing the poor etc but the facts remain that many clubs have engineered these 'small' memberships are much to gain numbers as they have to gave people attend games.

If the aim to to get money into the club then a expensive membership should be counted as more than one and a very cheap membership less.

Just my take though I noticed that Benny Gale has introduced a 3 game membership today in an attempt to compete with the marketing ploys of the other clubs  so I guess we are finally playing the game on near equal terms.

The other side of that coin Stripes is that more numbers mean a better 'sell' to the corporates, the sponsors who will kick in multiples of thousands of dollars to get coverage.  Numbers are what matters most to this group so it's not as simple as just counting the pure dollar value of memberships alone.

there are many ways to look at membership.
l see your points Stripe & l also see Smokeys. l sort of just stating a membership is a membership to me in my personal view.
l hold memberships for several clubs as most know. Its no big deal & alot of people do it.  Same as in other country leagues l do the same, + l get season freebies off MR D :thumbsup
Anyway l got a email today about the 3 game membership & think people with a low budget or concession would snub it. just my view

A mate who goes to footy tells me he pays under $13 for a general admission because his in between jobs his got a card that gives him concession entry.
So he said why pay a club $79 for a plastic card to see 3 games in general public when he can get into 6-7 games for same price. Now this is just general talk here cause his a Demons supporter.
But would a Tiger supporter buy a 3 game membership at that price if he was out of work had one of them cards, OH Centrelink l'm just told  ;D  is there any benefit for who the club of course.

The supporters gets what 10% off at places he cant afford to shop at anyway. l not slamming it in any way just giving the views of 2 football supporters of different clubs.

He be at the game using my Melbourne membership that l continue to buy from when my father died as he was a long supporter of thier club. Not meant to say this but several mates use it as well so its great value for everyone  ;D & l'm happy to save them some money  :shh

will there be figures available on these 3 game memberships,  l suppose not so it will only show on the card but the bloke using it l suppose will feel proud

With the new 3 gamer we might even limp our way to 41k.  Anything over 40k this year is a win in my books.

That is impressve especially seeing the way we are winning all our games.  :lol
And still we are getting more people that are becoming members.
People out there joining up must see something there, or why else would they join up.
Good on them too.
