No harm in the kid training with us but I think he comes with too much baggage  ;D

Would be very happy if they invited MacDonald to training instead  :thumbsup

Why did they dump McDonald. He played every (or nearly every) game for them this year?

He asked to be traded to Vic - no dela was done so they de-listed him

If he nominates for the draft he WILL get picked up - don't know by who but he will for sure - too good not to.

Hawks could swoop and draft disgruntled Hooper
Jake Niall | November 19, 2009

HAWTHORN is considering taking the punt on former Brisbane Lion Rhan Hooper, with the 2008 premier contemplating selecting him in next week's national draft.

Hooper has been training with Richmond, which is weighing up whether it wants to pick the small forward, who remains in dispute with the Lions over his estimated $300,000-plus contract he was due to be paid in 2010 - the terms of which Brisbane argues the player breached.

Hooper's dispute with the Lions has been referred to the AFL's grievance tribunal, but is not expected to be settled before next Thursday's national draft.

The Tigers have given Hooper no guarantees, while the Hawks have spoken to him recently.

This bloke reportedly had attitude/commitment problems. He then turns up for pre season training with a club in the hope they will draft him, fat as a fool. Now that shows just how much commitment he has to resurrecting his AFL career.

I'd prefer a draft pick to be wasted on an injury prone big head like Thorp than this bloke. At least Thorp is a potential match winner IF you can get everything right with him.

Apparently Greg Denham on SEN said that Hooper missed training yesterday because 'he forgot'.

You're kidding me?!?
Yeah well for that memory lapse i hope we "forget" to read his name out in any of the drafts. A professional sportsman who is trying to earn a spot at club cannot afford to forget surely.

Did Denham mean Wednesday's training as yesterday (Thurs) is the players' day off?

I was told by a friend Hooper hasn't been seen since last week's training  ???.

2007 - Hooper’s pre-season was thrown into turmoil during January when he ceased training with the Club citing a lack of personal motivation to continue his AFL career.

6/12/2008 - THE BRISBANE Lions have suspended forward Rhan Hooper from the club for 28 days for "repeated breaches of his playing contract during the pre-season".

The Lions said in a statement on Saturday that Hooper had failed to attend December's scheduled training sessions.

"We are working with Rhan on this ongoing issue in the best interests of the player and the Lions," the statement said.
