All dependent upon preseason and match-ups but...

The Round one team I would like to see -

FB:    Newman       Moore         Thursfield

HB:   Rance        McGuane        Tambling

C:     Cousins        Deledio           Cotchin

HF:    Morton          Post            Nahas

FF:     Hislop         Riewoldt       Vickery

Foll:  Simmonds, Foley, Jackson

Int: Graham, Collins,  Tuck/ND Pick 3,  Richo,

Em: Edwards, Polo, White, Farmer, ND Pick 19

Very young team and very light on in terms of size and experience but I think we'll have to get used to that for quite some time. Looking at this team assures me that we have a lot of pain ahead.

I bold the players I think are our best.

 - Simmonds needs to get injury free or else if we see the same junk as last season he has to go. Browne / Graham should be given a chance.

 - Will be intersting to see how Tuck goes.

 - Moore is 26 yoa and one of our oldest players so he needs do something this year.

8 of our best 22 (if not many more) are all 22 yoa or younger. Might indicate we will struggle. Geelong, St Kilda and the Dogs have very few players this young in side.

Playing Collins as a back pocket? Since when has he ever played there
CHB looked lost as a defender last year also, not sure why you persist with labelling him as a defender

When the side starts training I will watch them again. I think the thread has merit - what is Richmond best 22 players, in what postions, both now and just before round 1, and the rest of next season. Do you not?

I will leave you the Boundry (no doubt the finest drinking establishment in the world) all to you champ/

Feel free to find me at the McKinnon and put your views forward face-to-face  8)

In a perfect world Post will be a CHF - the next Carey or Johno Brown.

There was no where else to fit Collins into the side. We need to find a small defender.

Bentleigh, you could easily put Collins on the bench, with the back pocket open - maybe Farmer? Collins is not a back pocket player, he's a goal-kicking midfielder!

Mine:

B:     Connors         Moore         Thursfield

HB:   Newman      McGuane      Tambling

C:     Cousins        Cotchin        Collins

HF:    Martin           Post            Nahas

F:      Vickery        Riewoldt        Morton

R:  Simmonds, Foley, Deledio

Int: Graham, Richo, Jackson, Tuck

Em: Rance, Edwards,

I tried to add better footskills in the backline and went a bit wishful thinking with Connors. There was no obvious alternative as a back pocket. Polo and Farmer maybe but at this stage they are no certainties. I had trouble fitting Rance and McGuane in the same defence due to their iffy footskills so left one out as an emergency.

Midfield was far easier to put together although the ruck is a major issue. I would normally have just two rucks but Vickery who is the better long term option isn't ready physically to smash his body so have him as a 3rd tall forward option. Playing Simmo and Graham out of necessity. Browne is still very raw. Maybe if desperate Polly could play the 2nd ruck next year if he's able to back up each week at AFL level.

Forward line was the hardest to put together. Very young and inexperienced. Maybe Richo will play back closer to goal next year given his age and hammy issue but 4 talls up forward is too many and oppositions can run the ball out more easily once the ball hits the turf. Even with 3 talls we seem to lack pace with our forward from a defensive point of view apart from Nahas. On Richo I'd rather use him in spurts off the bench where needed to provide us with some structure - either on a wing, HF or FF.

Bench has Jacko and Tuck. Not ideal but both will provide a chop out for the others especially Foley and Cotch inside. Rather have more speed on the bench but our speed options (say Whitey) aren't certainties either.

l lived & worked in McKinnon. you were probably the paperboy  :lol Good drinking hole both them pubs & good action every week.
Remember smashing a big mouthed Collingwood supporter on the pool table  ;D he hit the table overhead light so hard everyone thought l had slashed him his wound was that bad  :lol
the good old days, been there and done that with them Kiwis of the Boundry, dont tell me you scared to drink there, dont you like playing the pinball machines  ;D maybe there smashed now.

Now back to making football team  ;D l couldnot make one because l couldnot find 22 players to put in one  ;D
