Grimes was Rance like last night, saved us on numerous occasions with his intercepts, very courageous and is our most consistent defender

So true Lozza. I actually said it to myself in the last how it was exactly what he would have done

He was massive

1. Dylan Grimes is the best one-on-one defender in the competition

Tom Lynch was superb, kicking six goals, but Grimes was just as important in getting an undermanned Richmond across the line against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday. Grimes had 17 disposals, 13 of them contested, to go with five contested marks and six rebound 50s. The 27-year-old finally received recognition last year when he was named in the 40-man All Australian squad for the first time. With Alex Rance sidelined for the year, Grimes is standing up and taking a leading role in the Tigers' defence. Grimes rarely gets beaten one-on-one and stands up when it matters the most.

Grimes has been sensational these past two weeks. Infact the backline looks really solid with Edwards down there as well.

Hardwick was effusive about defender Dylan Grimes, suggesting he should be the frame for All-Australian selection. ''He's right up there with [Alex] Rance. People always talk about Rance, but 'Robin' is not far behind him.''

Absolutely awesome again today.

IMO it was between Lynch and Grimes for BOG.

Surely he gets mentioned in the AA debate??

We didn't want Rance to go down but it's shown what a star Grimes is  :bow. If he isn't in the All-Australian side this year then it'll be a joke. He killed it once again down back tonight. He's taken over as the general of our defence.
