Any chance we can talk about the positives instead of whinging how bad wee were?
Nason sounded like he had a decent game. As did Farmer.

Unfortunately it's hard to come up with positives in a 12 goal loss even in a practice game..

I'd be really surprised if we don't come last.

Agree MT of course it's likely.
Some here are forgetting we came 15th last season and we've cut a heap of experienced players from the team with 14 youngsters coming in.
We have to be PATIENT and expect these terrible losses from time to time this year. It may even happen a lot.

Evidently there is still plenty of delusion about going by some responses on this thread.
It ain't going to be all that pretty in 2010 but we have to look at the big picture.
Seems that's too hard for some to bare already.

Yeah good to hear Roberts and Nason played well.

Tigerland09, WAT and X pull your heads in..

Wake up to reality..

There are countries with earthquakes, crime and poverty throughtout... we've lost a practice match against a full strength essendon outfit with about 10 players yet to debut for the club..

Stop embarrassing yourselves...

We have a bunch of kids yet to debut running around anyone setting expectations is kidding themselves..

I'll cop Bowden McMahon Johnson Brown Richo etc not being good enough. I won't cop our current new draftees being called weak and being unacceptable in a practise match.. Common sense suggests we let them debut first before writtung them off for life...

Why am I embarrassing myself.... Dad... I said I dont care about the result as it is a practice match but I am concerned about the apparent lack of intensity with the final score line and the fact we kicked 1 point to 7 goals in the last qtr. Do you think that the last qtr score line was acceptable???

BTW go join the Peace Core if you are that worried about mother nature and Wold crisis... :thumbsup

I did not say they were week and I did not aim anything directly at young players or individuals, if you are going to have a go at me get your facts right first or leave my name out of your posts.

just got home from the game lol what a long drive not took a whole 4 minutes

Pathetic from Richmond

never seen any other team when moving the ball forward on the wing many times that not one single player was in our forward 70 metres wafj

Kicking the ball to no-mans land lol

McGuane passing the ball off many times back into the corridor right in front of goals,  which cost telling goals. Thats not taught in football. his a idiot

Having a oversized water carrier who was puffed out after her first run is a shocking site to have around any league footy game while the Essendon players got refreshed many times lmfao

Essendon wore our players jumpers nearly when we went forward yet we gave them so much room to move you could commentate what was happening

l'm over the RFC  :banghead  there is no excuse for this type of football, lucky l never had to pay to see that rubbish & Essendon had no McVeigh
We will not win a game this year & can tell you the umpires do not like Richmond

Essendon are a young club like us & they are so much bigger & well drilled its laughable, they did what they wanted
The heads went down in the 2nd quarter & half time the players started to form a huddle to see peeweak Captain newman run past them not saying a word.
That tells a story of weak leadership.

Agree Magic. It won't be pleasant but it's called bottoming out. Another 2 years of struggling isn't going to kill us after 28 years being crap.

Big picture = getting games into the cubs during this season and then adding another top 5 pick and a further clean out at the end of the season.

You've whinged all throughout this thread, you can dish it out to our players but but can't take it.

I want to read and post about the game not hear how dissapointed you are about a practise game result.

Back to the thread.

thats exactly right Ramps.
telling these players to play that type of football & not maning up & not giving respect to your opponant is a disaster for any team in any division.
You will never win a game without several plans coming out of a backline & the option & timing of that play, we are shocking. l could fix that problem in several sessions of skill training. These players aint taking things serious, they are not pushing hard enough to push another player out of the team.
Not knowing how to switch the play or hold the ball up & take time to scan your options.

& as for the coaching. any coach who allows players to do stupid things & give away stupid 50 metres without draging them should not be coaching league

Yep make them play accountable footy. I don't think we have much of a choice though. Opposition clubs have been able to shut us down fairly easily. It's only when a game has opened up and it's 1-on-1 do we start getting the ball moving effectively and supply our forwards properly to score.
