Wasn't today McGuane's first run?

Maybe Hardwick's experimenting with Nahas in the midfield?

Wasn't today a practice match?

I don't have high expectations but I'm going to laugh at some here if we come out and beat the Blues. :lol

TODAY, was the last ""tune up"" for round 1

Big effing deal. It was a practice match not the real thing.
Like I said my expectations are low. Seems yours aren't however.

would not matter if it was Mcguane 1st game which l'm sure its not. what he did was point blank stupid, l would have draged him each time for those mistakes

Nahas is not a midfielder & never will be his too small & would end his career

Today was a practice match but its meant to fine tune your skills, we dont have many exception Roberts

l hate Carlton so l expect Richmond to win everytime  ;D with a passion

Ok, here's what I thought of todays game.

I watched from the 50m line at the entrance gate.

The guys that have never been coached by Wallace were all ok.  :lol Maybe not Farmer, he made a few blues.
Martin BOG. Poor kid is probably going to draw the number one tagger from round 1.
Nason was great early, and kept presenting all day.
Connors good apart from a couple of skill errors.
Lids I thought was quiet, but he might have been doing all his work on the opposite side of the ground.
Cotchin quiet early but worked into it.
Gourdis is worth perservering with, I thought he was handy.
Roberts exciting early.
Taylor didn't get a touch till 3rd quarter I reckon, but looks silky.
Jackson stood out in the 3rd quarter, but just bombs the ball.

The forward line wasn't clicking in the first half.
Riewoldt kicked a ripper from the boundary line in front of us. He kept trying and is dangerous around goal.
Morton was ok, not outstanding, kicked a couple though.
Backline, uh, well the ball was coming in quite easily, so they were under a lot of pressure. What stood out though was Gumbleton had at different stages, Polo as an opponent, Tambling and Farmer. Gumbleton is a big boy, those three aren't.
I might get abuse for this, but Hislop might be ok, took some strong grabs. Just needs to stop giving 50m penalties away.
And you may not think I care for you

Reckon Hislop gave away at least 3  50 Metre s.
And his kicking is an issue

One other thing i'll mention, is the free kick count would have probably been 50 - 10 the Bombers way and we also gave away 6-7 50m penalties.

A lot of them I'm not sure what they were for, especially ones at the centre bounces.

Thing is though, the umpires don't change their decisions, so we need to stop giving them away. No point arguing with the umpires. We got some stinkers, but I don't think the umpires were that bad.

Nason had a kick at goal in the third, and looked a good kick, but just shaved the post. A guy in front of us was going off his nut saying the umpires don't know what they're on about!  :lol Hitting the post has always been a point for as long as I can remember.

Yeah three 50s in the first quarter. Got one back later on.

Forgot to mention, but Vickery should turn out ok, rucked ok and took a good grab up forward.

Only problem though was he didn't want to kick the goals, he looked to hand of from the 50 one time, and 30 out also was looking to give off.

Where we got beaten?

Well the Bombers had three on one all over the ground, If we were employing a zone, it didn't really work. We were smashed in the middle again, apart from the third quarter.

From the Bombers forum. Did we really kick it OOTF stacks of times from kick-ins?  :P

We (Essendon) did very well out of the umpires, and Richmond's kicking. They must have kicked it OOF about 8 times.

Richmond was disgracefully undisciplined. We got frees, fifties and down-the-grounds from stupid late contacts.

Cousins and Reiwoldt are the only way Richmond will win games/be watchable (unless Melbourne continue with their bout of Quinnitis). The number of times they kicked out of bounds from kick-outs was embarrassing, even by their standards.
