Robbo getting stuck into Richmond on SEN
« on: March 08, 2010, 01:53:37 PM »
Mark Robinson on SEN getting stuck into us about the Collingwood game. Fair enough saying we got smashed with the ball mainly in Collingwood's half in the first half and we couldn't hit a target to save ourselves, but you've got to love how when we have a team of kids on the park there's no mention of us being understrength with 10 or more of our best and classiest players out  ::).

Anyway his bottom 4 is Richmond, Freo, Melbourne and then one of Essendon, West Coast and perhaps North or Port. With the way footy is played these days where keeping possession is paramount the top 4 sides will absolutely smash the bottom 4 sides this year.

Maybe he's afraid of our uocoming practice match on Saturday.
Maybe he's afraid we dent the Bombers confidence. Our recent record is good against them.

Robbo another sensationalist bully journo.
I wonder if he and others will get stuck into Melbourne if they are 2-9 at half way with us potentially at 2-9 also just for the sake of this post. ::)

Not really interested in what the media says, negative or positive. They are going to say what they will say and there's not a lot we can do about it.

We are getting some bad press at the moment but we really have no one to blame but ourselves. No matter what they say it will have no effect on what actually happens.

Best for us to let performances and results on the field be our rebuttal. If we are pathetic then I suppose the media are correct.

In a bottom 8 side, the 10 best players are far more important for the ability to win games, than the 10 best players missing from a top 4 side.

Top 4 sides have depth and generally more mature bodies around the ground.

We lost/culled 15 or however many players that, even though most werent up to it, had a bit of AFL experiance and could offer a contest to some degree. You take a futher 10 starting players from the line up and the result is Collingwood dominating possesion.

meh this bloke can be clown at times, why even bother mentioning Richmond at this point... oh thats right because we have one of the biggest fan bases and Richmond news sells papers.

i just want two things in 2010:

1 - Richmond to win as many matches as possible.

2 - Essendon to crash.

i still don't understand how people think Melbourne will improve?

they lost McLean and gained two young players?

they aren't going to be good now, 3 years time they will be.

I'm with you torch - A lot of the media is pumping up their chances but I don't see how Melbourne is going to improve much on last year given they've lost experience in McLean and gained some youngsters??

I'm just glad no one expects much of us because when they bandy Richmond about as improvers we inevitably fail to live up to it!

They won't be good yet torch, I agree.

One of their 3rd years players, Miss Cale Morton is out for 3 months and their only forward, Jurrah, is also injured.

Robbo on SEN was asked by a caller that being the most negative journo out there what positives could he find about Richmond?

- Mitch Farmer is in his supercoach team
- Jack Reiwoldt needs to stand up more.
- The whole side needs a crash course in keeping the ball from the opposition. When they do that they'll be a much better team.

Robbo also said Melbourne is in trouble. They'll struggle to win a game. They don't have the depth being a young side and they've already lost with Morton, Jurrah and Sylvia to injury.

Earlier he said there's a 20 goal difference between top sides and bottom sides. Even a huge gap between the complete top sides (Dogs) and the middle of the road sides (Ess, Carl, WC, North). There's going to be quite a few hidings dished out this year.

Wasn't it just recently that the AFL were heralding the 'evenness' of the competition. Doesn't sound very even to me.  :help
