sheesh you basically stop growing   if i remember it correctly at 17 or 18.  you may grow  the odd cm there after if you are lucky.
jack was drafted at  192cm as an 18 yr old  his height has never ever been a problem.  but at just 84 kg  when drafted he had a fair bit of size to put on.

in his second yr he was still 192  and 86kg still a good height  but still undersized.

sheesh wonder of wonders   last yr he was 193cm and 87kg  he grew that odd cm apparently.  the problem still  undersized.

personally i would be most surprised if he grew  2cm at age 21.  but its not beyond the realms of possibility his dad  played ruck at clarence   and for tasmania so jack  may well be one of the few  late gainers in height.  his dad  was also a big bastard with it, trust me i know i had to play against him.
jack was never going to fail to bulk up, i would have been surprised if he failed in this regard  his pedigree said  so.

I think your right claw. bulk is what will come later rather than height.

some of these stats also say some players got smaller  ???

the height/weights are quite often 3 years old so he was probably 195cm two years ago

To put it simply - you're wrong.

It is usual for young males to continue growing (height) until 21-22 and they remain that height until their late 40's/early 50's.

am i. so how much do you grow after age 18. 5 10 cm. or maybe 1cm perhaps 2 if you are lucky. like i said most of us  have done our growing by 18 we may gain the odd cm past this point. which is what i said. i say this because i can just the anal retentive types like arguing what was and wasnt said.

lets look at talls on our list who are drafted at 18 19 and what they were at  21 22 shall we.
yeah we will do talls only. just to many to do otherwise.

hmm graham has gone from 200cm 06 to 201cm at age 22. 09.
mcguane  191cm 05  to 191cm age 22.
moore  190cm 03 to 189 at 22. :o
polak 193 02 to 193 at 22.
schulz 192 to 193. he was there last yr should do pattison as well bet he only gained a max of 1cm if at all.
thursfield 190 to 191.
riewoldt 192 to 193.

need i go on look at players from other sides    like roughhead franklin have not grown at all since being drafted.
the norm is  at 18ish  you have basically done your growing  give or take the odd cm.
will you get exceptions to this yeah like in most things.
if a player at 22 23 25 has suddenly grown  2 cm im inclined to think 1 of 2 things either the previous reading was wrong or the current one is.

oh weather this is scientifically correct i have no idea to me its been widely accepted by most that this is so. i have seen nothing to contradict it. perhaps you can come up with players  to contradict it but i reckon you will find them the exception rather than the rule.

Thank you for backing up my point.  Young males continue to grow until their early 20's - exactly what we both said.

Bones stop growing at the completion of puberty which in all males occurs in their late teens to early 20's but there are a number of other factors that influence the height of the human body - not all of it is related to bone growth.  One of the most relevant is that it's very common for elite athletes to increase height by increasing muscle mass and elasticity, causing changes in posture that in turn produce a height increase, so it would be well within the realms of possibility for a young maturing athletic adult male who turned 21 in October to put on 2cms - my original point.

Quite right, Jack is taller by at least a cm. Remember seeing them last year(?) standing chatting after a game and Jack was at least that much taller, now maybe even more.

sheesh what is your problem  you once again disagree but agree.   talk about anal mate.
please tell me what was wrong with my original post. the point i was making and thought i articulated it well enough  was you basically stop growing at 18 or put another way  just for you  mr anal  the vast bulk of your growing is done by this age  and you might if you are lucky gain a cm or two. yet you come on line pronouncing me wrong and all of a sudden im backing up your point. how thick are you you have said exactly what i said originally.

i was the one who made the point that you stop at 18 basically but may grow  the odd cm  and you called me wrong you then get on here and basically say exactly what i said  yet im wrong. and to top it all off you  are now  thanking me for backing up your point  the exact same point i made.  you are saying nothing i havent just in a different way  but you are arguing. unbelievable.

did you do the exercise and look at players  height  in the afl aged 18  and then at aged 21  22. how many have you found that have grown more than 2cm.
i just went thru adelaide.  first cab of the rank looked at all players on the list proper who are turning 21 or 22 this yr and only 2 out of 7 has grown at all since being drafted at basically 18. and those two gained  just 1cm. like i said i wonder what i actually got wrong.

its been widely accpted for as long as i can remember that by 18 you have basically done your growing except for perhaps the odd cm. you said this was wrong. you want to split hairs and pronounce people wrong fine by me i can nit pick with the best of em if need be.

You're funny.  Apart from an apparent need to resort to childish name calling, you keep making a statement then immediately arguing against it!  :lol

"sheesh you basically stop growing   if i remember it correctly at 17 or 18."

I say you're wrong.

"you may grow  the odd cm there after if you are lucky."
"so how much do you grow after age 18. 5 10 cm. or maybe 1cm perhaps 2 if you are lucky."
"personally i would be most surprised if he grew  2cm at age 21.  but its not beyond the realms of possibility"

So do you stop growing or not?

I said it initially and will repeat it again for you - "2cm growth in a 21 year old is not unreasonable or unexpected I would think".

Your Adelaide stats?  30% of your sample grew taller.

So are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?
