Good point Danog!  Time is all we have on our side at the moment.  there is no rush with these kids.  Our rebuilding is gonna take years.  Give Dea games and we will find out whether he is part of the future.  if not, we will keep turning it over until we get the squad right.

Raines is a definitely a spud. Back to his painful self last night.
The up & unders are back when under pressure.

Agree MM, spot on.  I made a particular point of watching for him and it was just so much of the same old for Raines.  No teaching this old dog any new tricks yet.

You wont have to when he is playing finals footy at the end of year and our boys are on there end of season trip in September ;) ::)

So what?  He's a spud in a good team.  We got a good draft pick for him.

Your a CLOWN Danog.
We gave up PICK 19 for Jordon McMahon, REMEMBER :banghead :banghead
And I have seem way too much of Matt Dea to make me sick, what pick we gave up for him,?
He cant play

Scumbag post.

He's just a boy learning the game. Go and support the Gld Coast JACK with all your high draft picks and millions of dollars where things will be done easily.

Sick of you bagging our kids.

Yes correct Dea struggled and showed he's not up to AFL football. Coburg will welcome him back for the rest of the year an dhe can continue to learn his craft.

Disgraceful support from you towards a club that needs a positive influence from all involved. We'll get no where if our players continue to cop slop from you over the fence.

I'm surprised Dea makes you sick, yet your support for our club is weaker than a Dale Thomas bench press. Cop the bumps with a grin and move on mate. If you can't do that then jump off the ship.

Good post actually.
Dea cant play, and on face value is waste of a draft pick.
Go and watch other clubs first year recruits, you would of seen two beautys that Freo have picked up , Fyfe and Barlow
How good was Fyfe last night ??
Miles better then Dea, Oh, thats right, you only watch yellow and black. ::)
You are all so biased its not even funny.
The RFC slaughters its draft pics year after year, and you say give them a go :banghead
Yeah, lets promote Hicks and give him a game :banghead
We promote Polak before round 1 and dont play him :banghead
Pointless arguing with idiots !

Well slightly agree,

Dea isn't AFL standard and writing anyone off after 2 games is just a waste of breath.

Fyfe was good for a first gamer. Barlow is years older than Dea.

Sure I'd have loved Barlow at Richmond. But we have what we have and complaining and crying over how ugly our children are isn't going to help them make friends or excel at school.

We all know how you can't stand Rance but even you'd have to take your hat off at his shots for goal. Who knows Jack is it possible for players to improve as time goes on.

Not every draftee has to be a Chris Judd or Lance Franklin.
Go Tigers!

He is not alone in his kicking problems.  It's a virulent disease down at Punt Road.  Has been for years.

Fyfe was good, but so was Astbury in his first game.  Astbury was taken 1 round later than Fyfe.  You then try to compare an early 2nd round pick and a late 3rd round pick.  There's a reason for that.  Give it time.  Dea has played less than 10 games in his entire football career.  You choose to completely ignore valid points, such as Dea thrashing Jones and 2 other forwards (can't recall who) in the VFL.  St Kilda were going to take Dea with their next pick if we didn't take him at 44, so that gives you an indication of how he was rated.

You'll hear no argument from me regarding taking Hicks over Barlow.  I thought it was a big mistake at the time.  Ditto to the Polak decision though Graham's dad has just died, hence the black armbands on the weekend.  He may come in for Riewoldt if Hardwick wants to give Jack a kick up the ass.

Our drafting has gotten better, but I think Craig Cameron has to go.  FJ has been alright.

I rest my case.
WHY WOULD ANY AFL CLUB USE A DRAFT PICK ON A PLAYER WHO HAS PLAYED LESS THEN 10 GAMES IN HIS LIFE IS BEYOND BELIEF.
And , you watched him kick? Its embrassing

When Melbourne took Jack Watts over Nic Nat all the so called experts and the media said it was the best choice. He came from a basketball background and everyone knew he would take time to come along and Melbourne are still being patient.  We pick up Matt Dea with pick 40 something and as noted other teams were going to pick him.  After 3 games some people hear are already saying get rid of him, how about giving a kid a break for gods sake.  No wonder some of our players fail if they happen to come onto these boards (which wouldn’t surprise me at all).  All this negativity after a hand full of games they are labelled as useless.

You need to get your eyes checked, Jack.  He can kick, but is panicking due to the shock coming from the massive increase in pace going from VFL to AFL footy.  It doesn't help that our team currently shepherds / blocks the least in the AFL.  That will come with time.

Not sure Dea will make it.
I reckon even now it's too late to teach him to kick.
Let him try & develop at Coburg because right now he looks like a fish out of water.

1. Every one of his kicks was an up-and-under kick, which allowed Sydney to set up their zone.
2. He had at least 5 instances of panicking and giving a team-mate a hospital handpass.
3. He was DIRECTLY responsible for 2 Sydney goals.
4. 2 frees against and 3 clangers.

He was bad again.

Got caught in posession tonight. Holding the ball. Other than 2006 he lost every evasive skill he had at Richmond. I thought he was quite ordinary too. The pressure will start mounting on Voss if they lose a few more with his top ups. RIght now hw can afford to play these blokes to justify his top ups whilst Brissy are in the mix but if they start falling away from the top the question is whether he will have the conviction to drop blokes like Raines and McGuire for others on the list.

Raines to me is a dud in a good side that right now can still be carried. I'll give it a few more weeks.
