FREMANTLE'S end-of-season cleanout has continued with the culling of four more senior-listed players, including contracted youngster Tim Ruffles, who is recovering from a second knee reconstruction.

Steven Dodd, Ryan Murphy, Brock O'Brien and Ben Bucovaz have also been cut ahead of the first list lodgement at the end of this month.

RICHARD Hadley has retired from AFL football.

Injury restricted the Carlton midfielder to just 66 AFL matches during a 10-year career, which began at the Brisbane Lions.

Hadley played 41 games for the Lions, with the club's premiership of 2003 just his fourth senior appearance.

Traded at the end of 2007, Hadley managed 25 matches in his three years at Carlton, and just eight this season.

:lol

4 senior list delistings and one rookie promotion = just 3 picks. Jimmy as deluded as his club :wallywink

I loved the comment from an Essendon supporter on the Herald-Sun site. Something like one Slattery is still one too many :lol.

Ed Barlow and Matt O'Dwyer have both been axed, the pair joining Kristin Thornton as Swans looking for a chance in the pre-season or rookie drafts after failing to win a new contract. Along with the delistings, Brett Kirk and Henry Playfair have retired, while youngster Patrick Veszpremi was traded to the Western Bulldogs earlier this month. Two rookies - Jake Orreal and Taylor Gilchrist - have also been delisted.

Senior-listed players:
Beau Dowler (delisted)
Rhan Hooper (delisted)
Beau Muston (delisted)
Simon Taylor (delisted)
Travis Tuck (delisted)*

Rookie-listed players:
Michael Johnston, NSW Scholarship (delisted)
Jarrod Kayler-Thomson (delisted)
Garry Moss (delisted)
Carl Peterson (delisted)
Wayde Skipper (delisted)
Cameron Stokes (delisted)

*As previously outlined, Hawthorn has committed to support Travis Tuck in several ways.

In order to give Tuck the opportunity to be considered for the final spot on the Club’s Rookie List (open until March 2011) - in accordance with AFL rookie list rules - Hawthorn Football Club has had to delist Tuck.

General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans said Tuck will be given the opportunity to secure a spot on the Hawks’ Rookie List.

“Travis will continue to train with the group until March 2011, which will give him the opportunity to be considered for the final spot on Hawthorn’s Rookie List and the Club will continue to support Travis financially at this time,” Evans said.

If Tuck is not selected as a Rookie-listed player, and Tuck wishes, the Club will apply for him to be placed on its 'inactive' list and will continue to support him as a player at Box Hill.

The Club and Tuck then have the option of re-listing him at the end of the 2011 season.

Hawthorn's 2005 recruiting doesn't look great now. Just goes to show most of their 2008 premiership side was already at the club before Clarkson arrived and the 2004 Buddy draft was icing on the cake.

3. Xavier Ellis
6. Beau Dowler - delisted
14. Grant Birchall
18. Max Bailey - 3 ACLs
22. Beau Muston - delisted
38. Travis Tuck - delisted due to illness

PSD 3. Guerra

R3. Luke McEntee - delisted
R19. Lukas Markovic - delisted
R35. Stephen Gilham
R46. Ben Kane - delisted
R55. Ben McGlynn - trade to Sydney

Their 2005 rivals our 2004.

5 picks in the first 22, and there are no Deledio's there.

Ellis is a run of the mill player, Birchall a good ordinary and Bailey unlucky with injury.

PORT Adelaide has finalised its senior squad ahead of next month's NAB AFL Draft by cutting two more senior players from its list. The Power have dumped former Bomber Jay Nash after just one season at Alberton, while ruckman/forward Matthew Westhoff - brother of fellow tall Justin - has also been axed.

McCulloch was the one we were interested in late in the 2008 draft but Brisbane grabbed him with the pick just before us. The spare spot was kept for the PSD and we picked up Cuz with it.
