mate its about what we have to give up to get these types of players.
Gus showed a bit last week, but otherwise i follow your sentiments on him. The thing is getting a player like Fraser now means he must play week in week out because we have given up something to get him. Hindering the development of a players like vickery, browne etc.
Put time and effort to finding some bloke from the sticks or someone young bloke from another club. Dont waste your time with a 28 year old bloke who is not exactly a hardline player.
On Bradshaw, he has done okay this year. But is there any real point in having him in our side at all? We rotated Roberts, Rance, Polak, Astbury, Polo, McGuane, Morton etc through the forward line to see what works. Look at where our side will be in round 16/17. Would you have Bradshaw in the fwd line over Reiwoldt, Griffiths, Astbury, Morton? if all are in form? It seems like a waste of a psd pick or whatever he was picked up for, a player that might contribute for a year or two. Or picking up a diamond in the rough that plays in the next premiership. Ill take the chance everytime.
in answer to weather i would have bradshaw in the team over astbury griffiths etc. hell yeah these boys will take 3 or 4 yrs to properly develop. they need leadership guidance and quality to learn of as well as being protected from from being thrown in the deep end just to drown.
oh by the way bradshaw was going to cost us a psd pick or virtually a nd pick in the 90s. if we were to upgrade graham with fraser you would not be looking to do it with much more.
i can thinlk of a few younger ruckmen who would be big upgrades on graham who would cost jack. the trouble is most other ruckmen would be an upgrade on graham.
i dont know how often ive stated on most forums ive been on. you build your future with early picks. you also use plenty of nd picks when in rebuild. but when in rebuild its 99% of the time the older types who cop it in the neck and you have to maintain a balance.
in our case establish a balance so we need to take some experienced types. all experienced types are short to med term players. as such age does not really come into it just the quality of player we are bringing to our club and most definately as long as we are upgrading.
