mate its about what we have to give up to get these types of players.

Gus showed a bit last week, but otherwise i follow your sentiments on him. The thing is getting a player like Fraser now means he must play week in week out because we have given up something to get him. Hindering the development of a players like vickery, browne etc.

Put time and effort to finding some bloke from the sticks or someone young bloke from another club. Dont waste your time with a 28 year old bloke who is not exactly a hardline player.

On Bradshaw, he has done okay this year. But is there any real point in having him in our side at all? We rotated Roberts, Rance, Polak, Astbury, Polo, McGuane, Morton etc through the forward line to see what works. Look at where our side will be in round 16/17. Would you have Bradshaw in the fwd line over Reiwoldt, Griffiths, Astbury, Morton? if all are in form? It seems like a waste of a psd pick or whatever he was picked up for, a player that might contribute for a year or two. Or picking up a diamond in the rough that plays in the next premiership. Ill take the chance everytime.
in answer to weather i would have bradshaw in the team over astbury griffiths etc. hell yeah these boys will take 3 or 4 yrs to properly develop. they need leadership guidance and quality to learn of as well as being protected from from being thrown in the deep end just to drown.

oh by the way bradshaw was going to cost us a psd pick or virtually a nd pick in the 90s. if we were to upgrade graham with fraser you would not be looking to do it with much more.

i can thinlk of a few younger ruckmen who would be big upgrades on graham who would cost jack. the trouble is most other ruckmen would be an upgrade on graham.

i dont know how often ive stated on most forums ive been on. you build your future with early picks. you also use plenty of nd picks when in rebuild.  but when in rebuild its 99% of the time the older types who cop it in the neck and you have to maintain a balance.
in our case establish a balance  so we need to take some experienced types.  all experienced types are short to med  term players. as such age does not really come into it just the quality of player we are bringing to our club and most definately as long as we are upgrading.

No to Fraser. Need a ruckman who can take a contested mark. With the exception of Greg Dear and Greg Stafford our recruiting regarding ruckman from other clubs has not been flash eg O'Dwyer from melbourne and Knobel from st.Kilda

Just no skunks ever fullstop end of story.  They only ever trade poo, you would of thought we would of worked that out back in the 80's when they poached all our good players and they laughed at us taking all there dross...  You can't scrub the stink off of them.  just no..
Lots of people name their swords......

I'm gonna be unpopular, but Simmonds will probably go at the end of the year and if Fraser costs us nothing (PSD pick or a Steven King trade deal ie. pick 90+) then i'd go for it.

Our rucks next year will be Vickery (still a baby), Graham and Browne (still massive question marks).
And you may not think I care for you

Wayne i read your posts and you seem to know what your talking about but in this case its a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

we dont need his type in our team.

Vickery will turn good needs game time. Remember Kruzer all the Blues did with him is play him in the seniors with a few stints at the Bullants. Thats how we should treat Vickers.

Frazer.hahahahahaha you cant be serious surely. Might as well let Roland Rocchiccioli ruck for us while we are at it

lol at all the harsh calls on here about fraser. while i must admit i dont want him and think him totally the wrong type of ruckman needed  i have to say he would be a massive upgrade on graham. yep i can hear you  all now hes too old and thus short term. well what the eff is graham if not short term. fraser would be an actual upgrade if only in the interim.

and those who bagged bradshaw  what fools. only performs at a good club etc  brisbane would have done better keeping him over fevola. besides who would we prefer bradshaw or polak. ones a top notch player who knows where to go how to lead and is strong in a contest and the other just plain ordinary, both short term. only one had something to pass onto any kids he may have met.
in fact im livid how the hell can richmond people bag fraser when one looks at the litany of duds we have had go thru our system.

Sighs.

Graham has years left in development being a 22/23 year old ruckman. Fraser is 28 an has 3 years of AFL left. He plays no role in taking us to a sustained successful club and no role in winning a flag when our window opens in 3-4 years.

Pointless addition to the list.

Totally agrre PL, no point even continuing on with this thread, although we will, I will be shocked if we even mention his name as a club.

Wasn't one of the aims of collingwood getting Jolly to ease the toll on Fraser's body by reducing his time in the ruck?

Not really an ideal candidate to be recruiting to ease your own ruck woes is it?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

No to Josh Fraser.  Chronic knee PCL and back injuries.  Even if he cost you nothing, he'd cost you plenty.  He'd bankrupt the medical dept for a start ....
