Since the start of the nab, the bombers have won 5 games and we've won 1. Makes a difference to the membership sales
Not really, the bombers have not increased their lead in terms of membership over us since the NAB, I actually think we have made up some ground on them.  :thumbsup

Yeah but if it was us who won 5 games and them 1 game, we'd be even in terms of membership instead of 3,500 behind

And if we had won the last 5 premierships we would be #1 for memberships.  Your point?

We were over 7k behind them early in the year after their 'H' factor kicked in and have consistently got closer (halved the difference) since then.
We have more members than most other Vic-based clubs despite being far and away the least successful over the past 30 years.
We are on track to break our all time record that was recorded in our Cuz year.

What more do you think is reasonable to expect at this point in time?

If we can get a win on Sunday and with a home game against Brissy on 30th April I still think although it is a stretch we can get to 46K by the end of the month but two heavy losses against potential tp 4 sides has slowed down our momentum.

If we won 3 games in nab and 2.5 games in proper season we'd be on 48,500 like the bombers are right now. That's my bloody point ;)

You are contradicting your own point.  You say that a good start in the NAB Cup and early games translates to more membership sales yet use Essendon as an example whose membership has dropped compared to us since (and despite) their good start.  It doesn't make sense.

We havent caught the bombers in a month. I'm talking our sales, not theirs. We always catch them as the season goes on, but if we had a strong nab and a start to the season like theirs, we'd be another 3k more than we are now. How could more wins possibly not mean more sales? If they lost 3 nab games and only had 1 draw and no wins, they'd be on 45k;)

Of more concern is that the club is budgeting 46000 members from what I believe so that means we are under budget in terms of membership revenues at the moment. Lets hope we can hit 46000 over the next few weeks so the financials arent impacted.

It has been shown before in the years where we haven't had good starts that membership hasn't increase significantly, so to suggest otherwise is based on nothing more than guesswork. It takes constant improvement and signs of regular finals to build the membership base sigificantly. People know we are still in for a lean year, a couple of early wins is hardly going to make them come out of the woodwork.

That being said, we'll get over 46,000 easily

Nor have we dropped further behind so the only conclusion you can possibly draw from that is that winning or losing a few early games makes bugger all difference to membership levels.  The very large majority of every club's memberships are sold before Round 1 and they are sold on 'value', value being cost, past performance, promise and potential.  We start performing and showing promising levels of potential and the numbers will come, and they will come before we play our first game.
