According to the Bear's website Mathews played him mainly as a run with player in his last year as coach, so you can be pretty sure he knows how to be accountable.

It comes down to what we give up for him.

I doubt they'd just look at each trade individually, rather look at the biger picture of what gets traded for what. These so called agreements could still depend on certain other players getting traded out. Although they may give up pick 30 or whatever our second round pick ends up being, if they recieve another pick around that mark in another trade, they balance each other out. In effect it becomes a player for player trade.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

I have just re-watched our game against Brisbane this season (one of the advantages of having the enitre season on DVD ;D)

Took more of interest in Sherman - has a lot of "upside" especially being a bigger body. Very good as a tackler - his stick  ;D

Now I ask people this: If the deal was Sherman and Brisbane's 1st round pick for say Tambling or Moore and our 2nd round would you take the deal?

As I said let's wait and see if we trade up to a higher pick than 28 or 29 before we discount Sherman or Houli for that matter

would not give Bling or Moore . dont want to get rid of good players, we need depth to the side like collingwood if a second rounder gets a really good player Like Sherman i say go for it. Or we could try and find some 18 year old who will take 3 to 4 years to find him self whne we could have Sherman (its not a short cut) a short cut would be us getting 27 to 30 year olds to play for 2 years then leave

The Bulldogs are expected to be active in the trade period, with departing Brisbane Lions player Justin Sherman high on their list of "wants".

Tambling yes Moore now. They can take Mcguane for a half eaten sandwich for all i care.

Moore is a required player of our club and will be prime 28 by the time we start to make our assault

Sherman is average at best but an upgrade with a Tambling sounds okay. Houli will be MCMAHON MARK 2. BOOK MARK IT

Brisbane Lions line-breaker Justin Sherman is another who appears to be on the move and possibly bound for the Western Bulldogs.

The acquisition of Sherman would be a major boost for the Dogs following the departure of speedy backman Jarrod Harbrow to Gold Coast.

The Dogs are in the market for some pace and skill, Sherman's line-breaking drive off half-back seen as helping reinvigorate the club's flag hopes.

Sherman, 23, is likely to be forced out of Brisbane due to the club's salary cap crisis.

Carlton could also be in the hunt for Sherman if it can free up some cash.

The Dees are also after David Hale according to the Herald-Sun.

ooh please surely this is April Fools again is it?

"Sherman has two years to run on a heavily back-ended contract worth about $800,000 for 2011 and 2012 combined"
so does that mean we would have to foot the bill for that as well as giving the Lions draft picks.

Dimma will be judged purely on decisions like this i hope this aint true because Sherman has never been able to string descent consecutive seasons together.

Craig Cameron trying to justify his position by be seen to be doing something. Just leave it fool and draft kids

here here dan the man. let me add what ever happened to that much vaunted no poor kicks mantra.

what concerns me is if they are trading away 2nd rnd picks for types like sherman the logical conclusion can only be they think we have a top 8 list.

without a shadow of doubt the club should be looking to cut at least 10 or 12 players and trying to trade into a pick somewhere around 15 thru 30. they should also be trading into any other pick they can get.not the opposite and not for a bloke who has questionable skills  and consistency.

the other thing that makes me wonder about the love for sherman is do people actually look at what his true worth as a footy player is   and what the potential upside of a second rounder may be.
i have to ask how many of us thought  with the going of wallace and the advent of the new messiah hardwick and after the initial clean out that at last we were going to put in place and act on processes that will work, processes that said  no more short cuts.
well one has to wonder the similarities between hardwick 09 10  and wallace 04 05 are astounding. bloody hell at least wallace had three draft picks in the top 40 at the end of his first yr in charge.
