How much midfield did he play? There seems to be question mark over his consistency, but I wonder if this is because he gets plunked at HFF a bit? .

don't really mind if he's not the same mold as delideo, just a similar class.

Whats heppells disposal like?

So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

He had stints in the midfield in every game he played, certainly wasn't a ball magnet (likely due to fitness) and his best work was on a HFF where he could kick and set up goals.

There's heaps of footage of him here, he's got class:

http://rangesfc.matchvision.com.au/video/?video=437

Heppell can kick 60m off both feet and hit a bloke on the run without them breaking stride Deledio style but he wont make it to #6.

Have to agree G.G. seems like gaff at 4 and heppell at 5 which is a shame because i would love either of these two at the tigers. Really unsure after that like the sound of Polec as i think we need some outside mid class atm and he seems to fit the bill but if the footy dept. thinks Harper can become a midfielder it sounds like he may be worth a punt. Still at pick 6 personally i wouldn't be taking any risk so he is behind heppel, gaff and polec in that order for me.

He looks like a natural footballer doesn't he? Doesn't have that elite trajectory with his kicking but finds a team mate a lot and when he doesn't it will normally be to their advantage. Good judgment in the air too. Does look more  of a hff/mid than a hbf/mid though.

Cheers for the link.

Here's another draft resource website that's back and updated for 2010 after a couple years hiatus.

http://www.footydraft.com/

Here's there current mock draft top 10:

1. Gold Coast - David Swallow
2. Gold Coast - Harley Bennell
3. Gold Coast - Sam Day
4. West Coast - Andrew Gaff
5. Brisbane - Dyson Heppell
6. Richmond - Tom Lynch
7. Gold Coast - Shaun Atley
8. Essendon - Josh Caddy
9. Gold Coast - Daniel Gorringe
10. Gold Coast - Jared Polec

and here's some detailed profiles of some of the draftees:

Michael Hibberd

Forwards
Sam Day ...... most likely Gold Coast's 3rd pick.
Tom Lynch
Jack Darling
Kieren Harper

Midfielders
David Swallow .... already a Gold Coast player and their 1st pick.

Shaun Atley

Rucks
Daniel Gorringe

The reason he's being rated so highly is because he only started playing football this year after a mate asked him to.
So while he may not be that special now, what you see is from under 12 months of AFL experience, which means his scope for improvement is massive

I've hardly seen these kids play live this year so it's hard to judge them properly watching video but here's my initial thoughts on Gaff and Heppell for people here who have seen more of these draftees to pick apart and correct me.

Andrew Gaff

Age: 18
Height: 179cm
Weight: 74kg

State: Vic (metro)
U18 champ stats: 5 games, 13.2 kicks, 14.0 handballs, 6.2 marks, 2 goals

Left footer (good to elite). Looks like he can use right but left is dominate and stronger.

Inside and outside midfielder.

Sound footy smarts in terms of understanding the game and awareness. Will win the ball, give off and go then receive so likes being the go-to man.

X factor? Burst pace to go to another gear to break clear from traffic (similarities to Judd on that front although he's more Cuz's height). Allows him time and space.

Question marks? Tough to find any. Like most left footers their right isn't as strong. When you can blow opponents off I guess you don't need to use your non-dominate side much.

Dyson Heppell

Age: 18
Height: 188cm
Weight: 80kg

State: Vic (country)
U18 champ stats: 5 games, 14.0 kicks, 5.6 handballs, 4.4 marks, 3 goals

Left footer (good to elite). I haven't seen any vision of him kicking off his right.

Tall flanker/Outside midfielder.

Sound footy smarts in terms of understanding the game and awareness. Has poise so can control and distribute the ball well out of defence.

X factor? Plays tall and small, has very good pace and skills and his size which will make him a difficult player to match up against. Good below his knees and can scoop ball off the ground without changing stride.

Question marks? Overhead marking (in the vision he double-grabbed marks with his hands away from his body)? Does he have a right foot? Can he win his own ball as well as be a running receiver/rebounder.

There's also a mock draft of all our picks from the AFL site's 'draftmachine'.....

Player             Pick    Club            Club of origin
Jared Polec         6  Richmond     Woodville W/ Torrens (SA)
Tom Gordon       29  Richmond     Oakleigh Chargers (VIC)
Isaac Smith       46  Richmond     North Ballarat (VIC)
Luke Dahlhaus    50  Richmond     Geelong Falcons (VIC)
Andrew McInnes 63  Richmond     Dandenong Stingrays (VIC)

We're unlikely to use the following picks so these are really more rookie possibilities.....
Ben Mabon        80   Richmond     North Ballarat (VIC)
Tom Hickey       97   Richmond     Morningside (QLD)
Isiah Stevens   114   Richmond     Queanbeyan (ACT)
Arryn Siposs     131  Richmond     Dandenong Stingrays (VIC)

I might be totally off on this one but i'll stick my neck out and say Gaff doesnt impress me at all from what i have seen. Looks very vanilla and likes to peel off ultra deep for easy possessions, never seen him kick it under pressure. Reminds me of Carazzo

That was my initial concern too when I watched this youtube video after the U18 champs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW4SNIJN5us

But the draft machine video of Gaff shows he has more strings to his bow playing in the midfield. That's why we really need to see these kids play live a few times. In any case Gaff won't last to our pick 6  :-\.
