Wallace just said before on SEN Richmond want/need good kickers because we didn't have them under him when all the zones came in. So who we really want is Polec as he ticks all the boxes for Richmond but Conca is next best kick.

There's also the go home factor to consider. Conca says in this interview his dream is to play for a WA side and stay in Perth so you're close to family.

Take him then in 2 years we can trade him to the Dockers for Stephen Hill. Sounds fair.

Theres an interview with conca in the videos here;
http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/category/afl/.

At about 5.40 he asked which club he'd prefer to go to. Not sure what to make of his answer.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

I thought that's why he drafted McMahon?

I tried to see if google had already cached the previously mentioned page but when I clicked on the cached link it I got Dusty from last year. It must have only been up for a short while.
But you can see it was up

It was.

Disregarding what wallace said about what or wasnt there when he was there, he could be right. The talk of conca came about the same time talk that Brisbane were going to take polec ahead of us. Could very have been polec was first choice conca second for the reason Wallace mentioned.

If you try the page it's still called Reece Conca and has his name in the address.

Yep thats correct wayne, it is in the google links page I posted. But sometimes google caches the page so you can still read it even if it has been deleted by the creator. In this case it wasn't up long enough for google to cache the content, only the link.

rumour doing the rounds:

AFL failed to invite Conca to the Gold Coast tonight. AFL received call from us. And Conca will be on the Gold Coast tonight at the draft function.

yeah media got wind of this late last night or first thing this morning - so media has put 2 and 2 together hence they have conca going to us in the phantom drafts.

At about 5.40 he asked which club he'd prefer to go to. Not sure what to make of his answer.

here's the transcript of what he said:

Q: Do you have a club preference?

A: Nah, it's not really much of a concern, sorta just lucky to be picked up at the end.  If I could stay in Perth, it would probably be better than moving away.  But I do enjoy moving away, the independenet sort of stuff, be a good experience both ways.  I just want to play AFL footy, it doesn't really matter.

Pretty much just what any draftee would say.  Don't see any problems with him returning home to Perth.

i honestly don't see anything wrong with that, nothing to be worried about.  If u interviewed any of the draftees that's the type of answer u'd get, prefer to stay in the home state but doesn't matter either way, just want to play footy.

I like the fact that he's durable - played about a 100 games in the last two years.
