To those who think Reece fumbles and poos himself in close with no awareness need to watch his work in close today thus far

Tried hard but kicked the ball horribly today.
Cotch and Conca really butcher the ball far too often.

Another good game by Conca. Continues to put body on the line and runs hard all day unlike many of his team mates.

Had 11 tackles.

By comparison..

Newman, Lloyd & Martin had 1 each.
Chaplin & Grigg didn't get their hands on a Hawk opponent once.

Also put his body on the line and was poleaxed by Gibson.

Not his best game but he was far from our worst.....
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Those five are a deadset disgrace, 3 tackles between the five of them.

Gibson given a reprimand by the MRP for his late bump on Conca ...

------------------------------------------------

Josh Gibson, Hawthorn, has been charged with a Level One Striking Offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Reece Conca, Richmond, during the fourth quarter of the Round Six match between Hawthorn and Richmond, played at the MCG on Sunday April 27, 2014.

In summary, due to a six-year good record, he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 demerit points towards his future record with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing six-year good record, reducing the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 demerit points towards his future record.

What a joke. It was high impact. An elbow to the head going flat out when he knew he couldn't influence the contest. He deserved 3 weeks. Absolute joke.

I watched Reece really closely on the weekend and he did what a lot on here says he does, and thats put his body in and tackle. He had 11 tackles. But the other thing he does is play behind his man at stoppages. IMO he waits for his opponent to get the footy. If that's what he is good at play him in defense, but if he is going to be played in the middle, he needs to get in front of his man and get the footy and then a clearance. He needs to get more quality ball if playing in the midfield.
If Cotch doesn't get the clearance we don't get it.
So that brings me to a better question than Conca or Heppell.
What is Reece's best position? IMO it isn't in the midfield yet.
