Thought it was harsh hearing commentators say things like picks when to go or not to go.

Ridiculous calls and really fired me up. Obviously injured, this bloke never ever doesn't give his all.

Doesn't do enough. Just once I'd love to see us draft a player who comes in and is a great contributor from day one.

Greatest pick 6 since the heady days of Salopek, Cupido & Rombotis.

hmm vanilla is a good word for conca.

hes played two or three real good games this yr collingwood game springs  to mind. hes had two or three solid games and hes had two or three howlers.

doesnt have one out standing attribute.  hes not performing one thing consistently well at high quality. well maybe hes laying more tackles.
imean to say he doesnt find a lot of ball for a mid.  hes not a huge clearance player and hes barely ave as far as contested ball goes. he doesnt hurt with ball in hand  and imo lacks awareness.

hes not a poor player but hes nothing special either.  if we took him at pick 40 i reckon most people would be happy.

While I get the sentiment, you really over estimate the draft. Conca would be a decent pick at 20 let alone 40

Eh not that high. Let's just split the difference and say pick 30.

How about 18?
Take the compromised draft out and that's about where he would have been.

Too much time spent at the Vaucluse punting.

In saying that, reckon we have plenty worse running around than him.

Because Cotchin, Martin, Deledio, Vlastuin didn't deliver in their first year?

I don't see him as Vanilla, vanilla players for mine are the ones that go about their business without being line breakers or taking the game on, ie Ellis and Heppell. Conca has his flaws but I see him trying to make things happen

agree, coach is usually bang on the mark but martin, Lids Vlas all went bang early, cotch prob didn't bc he was virtually injured the whole time in his first season or 2

Skills can let him down but I have seen enough upside.

Who's coach and what are you talking about
Perhaps I should have worded it differently for you lamington. I'm not talking about pick 1, pick 2 or pick 3. I'm talking about players drafted later in the first round or in later rounds. Sorry, should have said so. I want a player to come in (who isn't a top 5 pick) and play 22 games. Other clubs always seem to be able to get their hands on a kid who comes in and performs really well from day dot. If your #1 pick isn't contributing then you've got a problem. At Richmond 1st rounders is all they seem to get right and even then they don't always get it right. Conca doesn't play like a #6 should.

As we have said, Conca is not a true number 6 draft choice.  He is more like 18 as GC had already picked the best 17 year olds the year before.  As such he shouldn't be judged as one. And yes a Boss is a leader of men! Well done!
