Why because he told a pre-match 2 weels ago it was a quad injury and the club is now trumpeting it's a hammie  ;D

Correct, although I thought is was an injury to his ego, which is unrepairable

"TBA" at this point of the season without having kicked a ball in anger would certainly suggest that.

Moore will probably be playing by midseason. While he's a good defender our defence will be better without him. We tend to use him as a tall defender and he's usually outsized by 5-10cm and 10kg. He rarely plays fullback, but if he did we'd struggle. Being outsized like this is not what you want with one of your key defenders.

I don't agree.

The way I see it

grimes = full back.
Rance = chb.

Astbury and Moore should be the3rd back. I think I the future it's not unrealistic to have all 4 in the back 6 as a possibility.

Mcgaune chb at coburg thusty full back. Deapth player. Off one to goal coast/gws for decent picks.

the way i see it atm grimes = 3rd tall. astbury = chb. would as soon as possible or as soon as he strings some decent footy together  give gourdis a go at fb. for me kel moore to play as a genuine flanker.

imo we are still screaming out for a  193 195cm 100kg fb.

grimes has all the attributes to play fb in time but i have real concerns about his size or weather he will ever bulk up enough to play the role.

one only has to look at what happened yesterday to see the need for a genuine big bodied no nonsense fb.

have said it many times will say it again. mcguane is a dud. and i still dont see rance making it especially in the air. really was comedy capers again with these two and graham.

for me with what players we have id like to see the back half go.

fb/  grimes - gourdis - batchelor/newman/farmer
hb  moore - astbury/post - deledio/conca/dea

Gourdis, grimes, rance, Post, astbury all in 195cm-193cm range.

Do we need more or do we need to give our current stock more time before we wrote them off?

Matt Hornsby with the medical/injury report:

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/roarvisionarchive/tabid/11454/contentid/355268/default.aspx

Edwards - not too bad. Pulled up well and feels fine now.  He had a depressed fracture of the cheekbone on the outside by the eye. Lucky in that regard.  Club doctor knew straight away and so finished him up for the game. He wanted to come back on but the pain soon kicked in 20-30mins so sent him to the hospital for scans and subsequent surgery. Surgeon is very optimistic that the issue is short-term and Shane will be back running and doing non-contact training next week and will play either side of the bye.

Whitey and Tucky - both had collision injuries. Both really optimistic to push their case forward for selection. Just need to train well this week.

Connors - tracking well now and running at full pace and kicking the footy again. Expect return to full training next week and play the weekend after this.

Griffiths - going well. He's injury free. A matter of gametime which we'll manage again this weekend and him building up match fitness.

dont think anyone is arguing about height. size and strength  well that is another thing altogether.
based purely on strengths and weakness gourdis and rance are not likely to make it. grimes is the only well rounded player there and hes not likely to ever be a monster.  is post even a backman seems those in charge dont think he is.
as stated on another thread i would like to see us play gourdis at fb when he finds some form. grimes as the third tall defender with astbury or post at chb. would like to see moore make up a quartet of talls by playing him as a running flanker. add some running and class in deledio and conca or even batchelor to round it out.

in time i think both conca and batchelor along with newman should will go to the midfield to give blokes like dea and orielly a go at showing something.

Good to see young Ben Jakobi taken off the injury list, was really excited about this kid when he played in the NAB cup he and Contin showed great aggression and midfield nous for young players.

Well seeing Kel told us pre match on Sat night that he going in for surgery he should be listed as:

Kel Moore (hip) SEASON

Ditto Grimes, would be pointless trying to bring him back this season. Take your time with him Tigers

I note Dan Connors injury is now listed as Quad instead of Hammy

Said it before hard to take what they release seriously; seriously  ;D

shame about grimes - but turn it into a positive he can look at some serious strength/size and conditioning improvements for the rest of the season and the pre season - come back 10kg bigger next year

Time for Post/Astbury or Gourdis to step up
