Some moronic commentators still call him the captain.
Anyone heard this?

Spiritual leader.... :shh

I'm even starting to believe that I'm wrong and Chris IS a champion..... :facepalm

Look, he may not quite meet many peoples definition of a champion, but nobody can dispute his status as a gun player and all round nice guy

Got a question,

Why does anyone ever use anyone in the media to back up any opinion they may have on any matter?

You'd be better off asking '65 that question in the Politics thread.

But he's a lovely bloke...................

He's a self indulged Rs for the way he's eeked an extra couple of years.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Should Chris Newman play finals?

Newy reflects with Richo before his final finals campaign...

VIDEO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2015-09-11/newman-reflects-with-richo

* It’s a different sort of feeling. A little bit of a weird feeling.  I actually thought that I’d be feeling a little bit more tense knowing that, potentially, it could be the last time that I’m doing things around the Club, or something like that, but I don’t.  I feel at ease.

* The boys think that’s the general sort of feel at the moment.  We’ve done everything that we’ve done in the past, nothing’s changed this week, and we’re just looking forward to a big challenge. North are obviously going alright, they’re a good team and we respect them a lot.

* We’ve had three successive finals campaigns, so hopefully we’ve matured a little bit from the first time we had our experience. I think the boys are just really excited and looking forward to it. It’s a different group to when we played Carlton two years ago and even last year. We feel like we’ve been practising the same things, so hopefully this time round it goes our way.

* I’m glad that I can get out on the MCG and play in front of a big crowd. I look forward to running down that Punt Road end and hearing the roar again pre-game. Everyone still talks about when we played Carlton here two years ago. The result didn’t go our way but that’s a memory that I’ll always keep. I’ll always remember that roar.  The ground was shaking. We’re going to have a lot of supporters there again on the weekend, so we look forward to that. Obviously, the trick is to try and embrace the support, but then put it to bed and concentrate on getting off to a good start. Don’t worry about the occasion too much and just play our best footy.

Veteran duo set to turn to coaching

RETIRED pair Chris Newman and Adam Schneider could each make an immediate move into coaching after impressing as mentors to young players in the final years of their careers.

Newman is set on entering AFL coaching ranks after completing the League's Level Two course and he sees his long-term future in the caper.

The Richmond favourite, who made an emotional farewell speech at the club's best and fairest on Tuesday night, appears certain to leave the Tigers to launch his coaching career.

Coach Damien Hardwick believes a start outside Richmond would benefit the 33-year-old, who will return to Melbourne on Monday and assess his options next week.

how the stuff does he get to do a level two coaching course. you need to have level one and have coaches a senior team for two years?
