Yes

Batchelor - very impressive must play round 1

Houli - his attackon the footy, 2nd efforts and in particulare his gut running were excellent

Rance - reall impressed with his game, though he read the play a helluva lot better as result made better decision

Foley got better as the game went on, leg speen dpicked up too

Helbig - was impressed with this kid he has some grunt and doesn't shirk at a contest

Biggest disappointment = Gus Graham

Biggest concern - Newman's fitness - looked so under done it wasn't funny

In summary IMHO

1st qtr = crap

2nd qtr = improved pressure

3rd qtr = very very good

4th qtr = pathetic and crap  ;D didn't seem to have any run left in the end a very disappointing effort

Add Grigg to that list of positives WP! Was a ball magnet  :thumbsup

Negatives were that we could not break through their zone and went back to the old stumble/mumble days where we always looked rushed and terribly skilled.  :help

If Dimma is trying to drill in a particular gameplan, wouldn't it make sense for him to focus on repetition?

Hardwick needs to get away from his NFL philosophies and get back to AFL zones and structures!!!!

This offensive ball movement and defensive ball movement is a load of crap!

As Ross Lyon said the other day, just keep it simple.

The crows made us look silly with their zones and pressure and they actually destructured us as we continually playing wide to break down their zones and it didnt work.

Dimma no AFL Premierships have been won based on the NFL, leave it alone.

Dont get me started , all the oppositions clubs know what we are up too, we are way too predictable, you know where the balls going 9 times out of 10, the opposition just picked us off time and time again today.
POINTLESS practicing something that doesnt work.
You might as well kick the ball out on the full :banghead

Disagree.  He was slow and lazy defensively.

Graham was so SLOW.

Perhaps a reason for us seeming so out of run is that DH has been flogging the boys lately at training?  I know I read somewhere in a report of last week's Coburg game that he had been doing that lately.

So from the various opinions on the game the positives would be -
-Grigg, Foley, Helbig, Batchelor, Vickery and Rance.
-Lids & Jack getting a game under the belt.
-Graham confirming Derickx as round 1 ruck.
-Astbury getting a lesson from Walker - good education for a player that hasnt put a foot wrong.
-1 week closer to not having so many unskilled duds in the same lineup

I'll take that. Its going to be a long long season with some good times and plenty of thrashings get used to it  :rollin

Look, I thought it was ok from a perspective of a developing list.

There were some patches in quarters which when we string together in future we will kick 5 goals unanswered.

Foley's second half was awesome. Planet swallowing devastation. He is so hungry. He wants payback from the footy gods and he ain't stopping for poo.

Griggs was good as was you could hope for. Houli was Sharp. Lids was good. I think Rance has improve out of sight. Batchelor looks like he's been in our back lime for 5 years. Very settled.

Post should play round 1 no question. 2 goals and some nice ruck work. Involved in play.

And poo me, why do our rucks jump so early? It can't be that hard, but if we don't get it right by round 1, we are going to give away possession nearly every centre bounce.

The rest were ok to very average. Most of the rest did some nice things, but seemed out of their depth in general play. we struggle to move the ball quick, and when we do, we rely on their errors to keep moving it forward.

My real concern is on the defense. It appeared to be 1 on 1 today, and I don't know if that's the main setup planned for the year, but a) if it is we are going to struggle and b) if not, thank god, and we better know how to mind space.
