lets say 6.4 mill then is paid to players
That would mean the players donated on an average approx 2% of there salary. $125,000 ?
Thats not taking into account the $$$$$$$$ they get paid for marketing.

Considering there managers take(they give ) an average of 5% of there salary to there managers, and a further 25% of money they get from marketing.
And we  should also consider sportsmans nights and cash appearances.

I would not of thought that $125,000 was a huge sum in the context of things

Unbelievable jack.

For someone on say $50k (not talking footballers here, average joes) 2% would be $1000

If every supporter donated 2% of their income we would wipe the debt out real quick (which aint gunna happen), yet you think it is not enough for the players to donate 2%, when a number of those players will not even be around to reap the benefits.

What % of your income have/will you donate?. I know I wont get near 2%

my suggestion is that AFL players are on the average are grossly overpaid.
I know of several who do sportsmans nights for 1500 a gig -cash.
Also, they choose to have player managers who take a min 5%.

lets use an example of last year, Jordon McMahon, $330,000 a year.
2% relates to $6600 when he would of given his manager a min of $16,500 .
I rest my case
Only using Jordon as an example.

so we pay $7,360,000 to play payments its fair to assume.
plus marketing dollars on top.
Which I beleive is where the managers take 25% of player payments

No one forces anyone to donate and people donate what they want. Personally I wasnt expecting the players  to donate at all. That they did is a credit to them all IMHO. :cheers

all i am saying is that the parasites in the sport( the managers ) are taking big dollars out of the game
Its likely that the joint payment to the managers of say Lids and Jack would be over $125,000, if you take into account marketing dollars

The managers are the ones who actively source these marketing deals so getting a decent cut from this part is reasonable.
This is the part the managers actually have to work for

so you think that if example being that Jack Riewoldt is wanted by say coke to appear in an ad and he gets $100,000 for it, that he should give flying start $25,000?
You are on drugs.
Managers to nothing for AFL.
Even stupid Marty Paske is now a player agent.
