Well a draw brings mixed emotions but...

I would like to think that one day soon we can look back and mark this match as a turning point.

And that I had the pleasure of watching.

 :thumbsup

Maybe, just maybe! Was very proud of the boys last night  :clapping

Deledio- Think some on here who jumped on lids last week labelling him selfish should think a little more b4 they comment. For me was clearly best on ground tonight absolutely towelled up goddard love seeing him through the midfield and pushing forward.

One of those people who jumped on him last week was me and I make no apolagi! I was refering to his game last week and he sucked. This week he compleatly turned it around, pl;ayed one of the best games I have seen, he bleed yellow and black last night and made an impact. This is the standard he should be playing. Great work Lid's :bow

Mate, what am I apologising for?? He had a crap game against Carlton didn't he?? Thats the way I seen it thats the way I wrote it! To see the way he played this week makes last weeks game even worse knowing this is how he should be playing consistently. He came back brilliantly this week, lets hope he can keep it up and lead this club out of the poo it's been wallowing in for the past 20 years!!!

Dont know why Conca was left on Milne the whole game

I reckon to teach the kid how to play on players who have "footy smarts".

I think Milne is a pathetic human being and an average footballer skills wise but when it comes to footy smarts he has plenty, it's one of the footy reasons he managed to play 200 odd games. Can't stand him as he always plays well against us but....

I reckon Conca would have learnt so much on Friday night. I saw it as short term pain for very long term gain.

The only thing that really disappointed me regarding Conca's game was when he stopped chasing Milne as the twirp ran into an open goal - the kid gave up in that instance and IMO it showed Milne just for a moment he had gotten into Conca's head. A lesson to learn right there but credit to the kid he lifted his head after that and battled on

Wasn't it Paul Roos who said that you often spend the first 12 months teaching high draft pick mids the defensive skills?  They come into the comp having been the best players in their junior comps and have never had worry about an opponent.

Think we might have learned from our experience with Dusty Martin last year.  He didn't have the greatest defensive side to his game.

The thing about it is mate, is why do you feel it necessary to bag our players after they don't play like you want them to. It was round 1, Lids had had little match practice due to a few niggles during preseason, and to be totally honest with you he was not that bad. I watched that game back a few times and think he went OK... Bit to quick to jump on a bloke that has been our best player for the last 3 to 4 years. Don't you think?

It's amazing the difference in age and experience between the two sides on Friday night.

Avg. Games:
Rich   53.4
StK   117.7

Avg. Age:
Rich  22y 293d
StK   26y 168d

We had 19 of our side 24 y.o. and under compared to the Saints 6. Only Newy, Kingy and Foley (whose still only 25) are our "oldies". Half the Saints side is 27 y.o. or older.

From Dimma which im sure most of you got via email

Three days after the St Kilda match, I don't mind telling you that we're all still a bit dirty on the fact we didn't come away with the four points.

.....

Edit: As it's exclusive to RFC members check your email to read the latest 'direct from dimma' email about the St Kilda game  :)

daniel,

The club has asked for the weekly dimma emails not to be posted on the various forums as it is intended for MEMBERS ONLY, that is a "priviledge" for those who hand over their hard earned $$$ to become members

We (Mr OE & my good self) allowed the first one to be posted and remain on OER last week because of all the problems members had in receiving it = alot didn't get it so we were trying to assist RFC members  ;D

So before you ask what heppened - that's the reason your post has been edited  :thumbsup

And if everyone could follow that and not post dimma's direct emails each week we'd appreciate it  :thumbsup

Cheers
WP & Mr OE

Big Tone,

Sorry mate but you have taken me completely out of context, where did I bag Lid's? In a game where everyone was pointing the finger at bad performances by lesser players (Nahas, Rance,White to name a few) I pointed out that some of our senior players needed to stand up and set an example, Lids was one of these players! I said he played selfish football, his direct opponent kicked 2 goals because Lid's refused to man up on him ( not sure if its classed as bagging him if it's true??) I don't mind that if it works back the other way but in this game it didn't!! He himself has admitted he had a poor game against Carlton in Dimma's email Quote "Brett, by his own admission, had a disappointing Round 1 game against Carlton" there was also plenty said about his game in the media that reflected my thoughts in the week that followed so clearly I wasn't the only one who noticed.
You say he was under done, yet the following week he plays the game of his life, it would be great if it took every underdone bloke one game to hit there peak! He wasn't underdone, he had a poor game he was clearly given a rocket through the week and he came out against the Saints and played like we all no he can play!!!
I believe Lid's can win a Brownlow he is a star, he just need more consistency in his performances and play every week like he did on the weekend.

imo deledios lack of accountabilty was terrible. its okay to have a poor game but somethings are inexcusable.personally i would have dropped him for the one game fairest and best winner for the past 3 yrs or not.
everyone is expected to be accountable our senior players in particular. some things should not be tolerated.

and i dont believe i have ever bagged deledio and dont consider this a bagging just the truth. what an example it would have sent to everyone at the club. what a line in the sand.
didnt morton spend time in the ressies for that kind of thing tuck as well. deledio should be no different.
