Richmond targetting Hamish McIntosh
« Reply #195 on: July 07, 2011, 10:22:33 PM »
Another one from Damian Barrett tonight.

Richmond is after a ruckman and they've dropped Andrew Browne tonight. They've set their sights on Hamish McIntosh from the Kangaroos who is contracted next year.

Brayshaw said McIntosh is contracted until 2014 so that's the end of it. Barrett responded "well we'll see how we go".

Speculation its July FFS.

We are a perceived easy target and the media for all its worth are milking us for our poor rucks.

If Ty Esler was available there'd be a story about a reuniting of some sort.

Whatever happens would not pay overs for him.  Not to Naught Melbourne not to anyone.

Pathetic "story" on a slow news day
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Only replying to who the article thinks we may be interested in.

Brian Lake you have to kidding. Good player does not fit our demographic. Age nor price. Plus injury and mental side may be shot. Will bring baggage. Pass

Goldsack. Will not trade with Collingwood. Pies will want high pick for premiership player etc. Not worth the hassle the debate or the seduction. Let him join Jack Anthony at Freo.

Trengove I will entertain the idea at the right price.

Trent West pass.

Bate. Oh please no Cameron stop turning the RFC into a half way house for washed up Melbourne fringe players.

McIntosh for the right price but only the right price. Mid range pick or a host of our finest fire sale items ala Jon Hay Nathan Thompson circa 2006 lets say McGuane for starters maybe a few others.

Schoenmakers. No don't get seduced by the Hawks relative success in their selection of kids recently. Would rather have someone like Savage or Bruest.

I am looking forward the "speculation" that we are targeting Dean Cox and Darren Jolly  ::)

We should have targeted Jolly before he went to Sydney( Not Collingwood mind you, but Sydney).
But instead, our recruiting geniuses at the time thought that Troy Simmonds was a more viable long-term option :banghead

Bit harsh I reckon lads.

McIntosh is the best option for a  proven ruckman in the right age group that might be available I reckon and if we are not into him then Hartley and Cameron are not doing their jobs.

Simmonds was the right fit and good pick up at the time for what he cost us. And I'd argue outside his last 2 seasons was a good player for us. He was what 25yo when we got him, with Staff coming to the end of his career... was certianly not a trade mistake IMHO

Mark Blake's manager has been in touch with other clubs. The AFL site article mentions us of course in needing a starting ruckman.
