All-Australian Tigers?
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:48:33 PM »
Richmond have five blokes who could be All Australian in quality - Deledio, Newman, Riewoldt, Martin and Cotchin - but too many of the men in black and yellow don't cut it at the moment."

While we are a bottom 4 side we'll never have 5 AAs. Lids would be our only AA chance at this stage unless Jack kicks a few bags and regains the lead in the Coleman. Cotch, Dusty and Newy will miss out because mids and hbfs in the top sides will easily get preference over them.

I don't think anyone suggested they or any of them would be AA this year, just that they are potential AA quality players

Conversely, if we had 5 AAs then we probably wouldn't be a bottom 4 side.

Know what you mean Jack but it's more our middle 6 who have some experience by now that are the worst in the league. There's a major drop-off in ability and footy smarts after our top 6 and that's why we are a bottom side.  Our bottom 6 right now would be our young inexperienced 1-2 years players in the seniors unless we consider someone like Conca already in our top 12 based on his potential talent. Hopefully there's enough of these younger guys with the necessary talent (fingers crossed) to fill the middle 6-lower 6 void in the next 2-3 years.

Healy and Russell on 3aw just before were talking about possible All-Australian candidates this year. Healy said Martin would be a certainty on current form and output while even Kingy  :o might be a chance if he continues to bag a few goals each week for the rest of the reason.

Mark Robinson's current All-Australian side up to Round 7:

B: Heath Shaw, Michael Jamison, Matthew Scarlett
HB: Heath Scotland, Dustin Fletcher, Brett Deledio
C: Scott Pendlebury, Jobe Watson, Andrew Embley
HF: Dustin Martin, Buddy Franklin, Stewart Crameri
F: Jeff Garlett, Jack Riewoldt, Adam Goodes
Ruck: Aaron Sandilands, Chris Judd, Dane Swan
Inter: Dean Cox, David Mundy, Sam Mitchell, Brent Moloney

Also unlucky were Marc Murphy, Matthew Boyd, Dale Thomas, Jude Bolton, Nathan Fyfe, Trent Cotchin, Matthew Priddis, Michael Rischitelli, and, of course, Gazza.

Not bas reall, but I just hate seeing Lids in that half back position.
