Depending on the severity of the tear - 3 weeks minimum for a start

Hammy's take about 5-6 weeks to fully repair, but players typically get back on the park after about 3 weeks out.

Media are saying 3 weeks to a month ...

Meanwhile Richmond defender Dylan Grimes could miss at least a month after ripping his hamstring late against Essendon on Saturday night. Grimes could be replaced against Port Adelaide in Darwin on Saturday night by David Astbury, who has not played for the Tigers since round four.

The one sour note of the win for the Tigers was a torn hamstring to impressive young defender Dylan Grimes.

The injury will be scanned today, but Richmond is already conceding Grimes will miss at least the next three weeks.

I'm wondering if we will just keep Post in the side to play as a defender
Port don't have too much height down forward to worry about and then we have the bye
Gives us a chance to bring in another running player

Well Thursfiled didn't play ofr Coburg so he isn't an option

Astbury started well but faded away - no confidence

I'd just swap Post to defence, he can play on Schulz  ;D

Didn't look like a particularly bad hammy, hopefully it's the minimum 3 weeks

It's usually a lot longer than that for it to repair properly but AFL medicos can get them back in 3 weeks
I have no problem if they give him extra time so we make sure it doesn't go again from rushing him back

Hamstring surgery grounds Grimes

Promising young Richmond defender Dylan Grimes had surgery today at the Epworth Hospital to repair an injured hamstring tendon suffered in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash with Essendon.

He will spend an extended period of time on the sidelines while he recovers from the injury.

“Dylan’s injury is similar in nature to those suffered by Josh Gibson and Nick Riewoldt recently, and the surgery was performed by the same surgeon,” said Richmond Elite Performance Manager Matt Horsnby.

“We’re optimistic that Dylan will recover well, and we know he will be extremely diligent with his rehabilitation program.”

Grimes’ second season at Richmond has gathered momentum since his return to the senior team in Round 3 against Hawthorn, after making his debut in the final round of the 2010 season.

The 19-year-old has shown improvement in each of his eight games in defence, and has twice collected 16 possessions in a match this season.
